Wait what. 8 bits per pixel? So you're running Verge in a 256-color mode? Verge requires a 32-bit color display mode to operate in. Please keep that in mind, and make sure your display is configured correctly and that the application is not running in 256-color mode (see the properties of the verge.exe)
What is your Windows version, and what are your computer specs? Windows XP 32-bit or later is a requirement by now.
