Well, here's the deal: We encourage you to use the logos in games you make using verge 3. The BSD license doesn't apply to verge games. What would be frowned upon would be modifying the engine into something else and then claiming it was verge. It's not, it's instead just "based on verge" at that point. But if you ask us and are nice, we'll probably endorse it. Also, yes, this isn't a copyleft license. If you modify it, you can keep the source private and just release the binary. But if you make an awesome modification, we surely wouldn't mind considering adding it into the main engine. ; )

Wait: Does that mean we're not supposed to put a VERGE/Verge-RPG logo on things made with it, which I think was one of the previous things we were sort of encouraged to do? Or does that mean we're just not allowed to say "McGrue sez this is utterly awesome" without permission? (Which I would rather have assumed to have been the case anyway) And finally, can we make source modifications and distribute the binary version without also distributing the modified source code? Just for clarifications sake. I doubt I'll be doing any of that. VERGE pretty much suits me fine as is :)

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
