Does anyone have any good books they can recommend? Being a geek, I'm a big fan of fantasy. I also kinda want to read some of those old classics that I missed in high school.

I have a recommendation of my own: Blade of Tyshalle. The book revolves around a world where people can travel to a fantasy dimension and their exploits there are broadcast for people to watch. It's an interesting idea, and the author tells a pretty damn good story.

I reccommend anything by Robin Hobb.

I recommend tyhe first two Xanth novels by Pierss Anthony. Zero says they're good through 4 or so.

For some reason I found The Elfstones of Shanara to be much more novel that the Sword, which is as complete a Tolkien Rip as you can concieve.

Neil Gaiman's Stardust is definitly one of the more entertainingly different fantasies I've read, not being Tolkien-based at all.

I used to read that Shanarra stuff when I was little. It was pretty weak. "Elfstones" is a good euphemism for testicles, though.

I recomend P.D. James', "The Children of Men." It's being made into a movie, and who knows if it'll be any good... but the book is damn good.

Her ability to breakdown characters is incredible. The dialogue is delicious.

Quoting an early review of the movie "It's got a little Clockwork Orange in it. A little 28 Days Later. A little bit of The Wall. A little Blade Runner. And a whole lot of **insert war documentary here.**"

And... I found Neil Gaiman's "Neverwhere" to be great.
