Remember Kao Megura, the guy who wrote the FAQ to Sully Chronicles, which can be seen here? I hate to be the bearer of tragic news, but at the beginning of May, he passed away(causes are unknown as his family did not want to make it public), but he left behind him a legacy of FAQ writing. He's the guy who influenced GameFAQ's greatest FAQ writers by setting a standard to
work towards. I would have posted about his death at the time it happened(I knew ever since it happened, because I visit GameFAQs regularly and the admin there made an announcement on the front page), but I did not know he wrote the Sully Chronicles FAQ at the time so I figured there was no reason to post this here. It's really a tragedy that someone who was so well-respected in the gaming community had to die an untimely death. He seemed to have touched the lives of so many people, as there are quite a few sites out there that post R.I.P. messages about him, such as these livejournals of GameFAQs users:

zoopsoul

BTW, was he ever a community member here? Did anyone here actually know him? I only knew of him through all the FAQs of his that I used(like his awesome Final Fantasy VII FAQ several years ago), but I only noticed today that he did the Sully Chronicles FAQ...

This was mentioned before, the week after his passing. He was semi-active long, long ago and there's an ancient article by him in the articles section.

I'm guessing he was "BladeDragon," then? Shame. That guy wrote some useful FAQs in his time. Never got to meet the bloke.

That article's not too bad. It's the one about RPG story conventions, right? I don't know much about him, but...well. The Internet is so impersonal sometimes.

Yeah that was really fucked up.

On one hand you had Kao Megura who wrote our beloved Sully 1 FAQ (and never got to play Sully Complete because of MCGRUE.... well ok, I think he died before v3 was out, too :/)

I didn't know him particularly, but his real name as said in the article is Chris MacDonald - his brother is CHARLES MACDONALD who is an emulator author that I know on the www.smspower.org sega 8-bit emulation community that I hung around for a while when I wrote CHASMS. He also wrote a genesis emulator and a turbografx 16 emulator, and probably lots of other stuff. He's a very talented hardware hacker.

So uh. I just thought that was really weird.

Ah. I think I kept confusing Charles MacDonald and Kao, because I heard the names on GameFAQs and then thought he was a Saturn developer, or something. I'm still sorry to hear it though.
