Dr Who <3
This of course also makes me happy.
Incidentally, I'm a huge fan of British sci-fi in general, give or take a few dire attempts. I'm a huge fan of 'The Prisoner' and am becoming quite a fan of 'Blake's 7' too. Wobbly sets and occasionally silly-looking monsters don't phase me in the slightest, which is my ideology entirely when it comes to entertainment: 'Looking good is nice but, on a grand scale of things, irrelevant. Is it fun and involving?'
The new Dr Who promises to look utterly fantastic but I'm looking forward to some cracking characterisation and some clever, exciting plots. Hell, even the episode names fill me with excitement. Check these out (in order):
Rose
The End of the World
The Unquiet Dead
Aliens of London
World War 3
Dalek
The Long Game
Father's Day
The Empty Child
The Doctor Dances
Boom Town
<To Be Announced>
The Parting of the Ways
Even the books and original TV series had some cracking titles. My favourites (in no particular order) include 'The Armageddon Factor,' 'The Sleep of Reason,' 'The Ancestor Cell,' 'Vanderdeken's Children,' 'The Wages of Sin,' 'Terminus,' 'Unnatural History,' and 'Arc of Inifinity.'

Dalek, Darlok. Darlok, Dalek!
Allegedly, yes. I'm anticipating the long-awaited arrival of a type of Dalek seen (figuratively speaking) only in the books: the Spider Daleks! Leeeeeggggsssss!!!
Ahem. Anyway.

Well, I've just seen the first episode of the new series of Dr Who and I am MIGHTILY impressed. Even the title sequence left me with an almighty grin on my face. The whole experience, from start to finish was utterly brilliant: modern, while still retaining the general style and themes that makes the show what it is. At times the action may have sped along a little too quickly but not enough to decrease my enjoyment. Christopher Ecclestone is absolutely GREAT as the Doctor: funny and intelligent while also retaining the Doctor's characteristic enigmatic alieness. Yes!!
