In response to Grue's Call to Arms, Rysen and myself deliver this fine piece of music. A Journey Through FFL2, for McGrue's listening pleasure (and sanity). Hope you all enjoy.

You know, I just realized you both have your own subfolders in my "Music" directory. I had to think for a second about which folder to put the file in.

Excellent, as usual. Well done chaps.

Omni

I second Alex.

Where did you guys get all the material for this? Instrument samples, etc. Did you even find real clips from the game?

I've been looking for a way to grab pieces of Game Boy music and I can't find a tool for it.

Unless, of course, I just compose it myself, but then that's not my goal here :) You guys did it great, though.

Rysen

Thank you for the compliments. ^_^

To answer your questions Omni:

Both "Game Boy" sounds were ripped from a couple of mods I found at the Modarchive. One was a Tetris remix, and I can't remember what the other one was.

The drums are from a sample pack I downloaded years ago, and the rest come from a FFVIII soundfont, which has a whole whack of awesome instruments. Basically if you hear a recent mod by me (and not something I've done with MIDI, ie. Anna's Theme) the samples will generally come from that soundfont. I'd tell you where to download it, but I no longer have the link to where I got it from.

Troupe and I did everything by ear. We downloaded the .GB file from Zophar, and listened to the same songs over and over again while figuring out the main melody's, some of the background riffs, and generally just threw our own styles in there to complete the mix. The toughest part were the transitions from song to song, but generally I think they turned out well.

It was a lot of fun, and neat experiment as if I'm going to remix something, I'll usually take a more complex song and turn it into a more simpler version (NES Remixes) so to do the opposite was pretty neat. ^_^

I'm glad you enjoy it!

On a side note, courtesy of RageCage and Troupe, my web page is at a new host, which is awesome. Everything is pretty much broken right now, but hopefully I'll have stuff up an operational again soon. (No more Geocities. w00t)

hey, firstly, this song is kickass, and why didn't you say you had geocities. i have a server you could get unlimited space at. http://rysen.ignem.com, wouldn't sound bad! anyway, just know you have the option.

Wow, excellent work, Rysen and Troupe. I liked the music of FFL2, and this remix was really cool. I especially liked how it transitioned into each new FFL2 track. My favorites were the Burning Blood and Critical Hit! songs. Anyway, great job. Keep it up.

Troupe

Glad you all enjoyed it! Which ones are Burning Blood and Critical Hit. I don't know the song titles, I just have the .gbs (or whatever the extention is) file. I will say that the final boss music is the most absolutely ridiculous piece of music ever for the gameboy. I had to totally make up all the crazy riffs, I could never get it to sound right. But ah well. It was a lot of fun. Perhaps Rysen and I will do another megagameremixxtreme1!11 sometime. I know there are lots of games I would like to do.

Overkill

Well, I know some of the song titles, because there's a jukebox in-game (it costs 1 GP/tune). Critical Hit!, I think is the battle theme. You need to barely play the game to be able to listen to every tune, as there's a jukebox in every town's cafe, each with all songs but the credits available. And yes, the final boss song has some pretty insane riffs.

Rysen

Troupe: Yeah, appearntly we were wrong about the battle theme. :P I played FFL2 recently and we did remix it, but it wasn't the song we thought it was.
We'll have to do another Co-op soon, so we can give Omni a reason to create a "TroupeRysen" folder. ~_^

zaril: I really really really appreciate your offer, but am very happy at actionsketch, and don't have a need for more web space right now. I find it funny that for the longest time I wanted a better host, but couldn't afford to pay for one, and have now been offered web space from three different sources within the last couple of weeks. :P

Thanks again for the offer! ^_^

Troupe

Ah ok! Thanks for clearing that up.

Rysen: Good thing we snatched you up when we did >:)

Now let us start working on our next epic coop :D
