I was freelanced to design some units for a small game being made, they gave me a shocking amount of freedom with the design so here they are.

Zip, bah, don't let me discourage you. There are much better artists out there to be discouraged by =] And awesome avatar =D "Deer in headlights look" =D

Thanks everyone. I think they're going to hire me for two more set of units, so I'm happy. But it takes away from my making rpg game time =[

Wow, that's the kind of work I'd expect to see in a manual or artbook that comes with a professional game. Well done. :)

Don't let Hyptosis discourage the artist in you! I used to suck at art but I'm getting so much better. Knowing what I'm actually doing helps a great deal :-).

Yeah, drawing rules... =D Also, I wish they still included badass manuals with games, remember the manual for warcraft 1? i thought it was leatherbound at a glance.

I want to get my hands on some game artbooks. I think they may have done one for Morrowind but I'd really like to see the concept art for such items of brilliance as Deus Ex, Chrono Trigger, Skies of Arcadia and Baldur's Gate, plus maybe some info on how the levels were designed and a little about the tools they used and the like. I'm really interested in that sort of thing.

Chrono Trigger had some alright stuff, the game was nicer than the art imo, but thats just my opinion. Out of the list, baldur's gate had the best concept art. Morrowind's concept art wasn't nearly as sexy as I expected. I mean, it was dman good 'concept' art, just not very good 'art' =D
