A well, nothing much to say... wanted to improve that one

Icons to represent spell types... some like Alchemy and Arcane had me puzzle... I should point out Squidward icon filler I made here... hehehe

Bell in production, it's actually done... that was an old screenie

More monster differences...

Kobold pirate (human like dogs) Blackbeard... he was supposed to have a first mate named Edmond(If someone can pinpoint the source of the second name)

A litte bit of the first map Gelaham... which I hate, but whatever...

Goblin concept art with finished product... i made so many variants of this one... many different types of equipment and clothes.

That's some nice stuff, Syn! I especially like the female thief before/after. :D It's unfortunate that Eldritch seems to have fallen off the face of the planet - Serinor is pretty cool and would have looked fantastic with these graphics.

My personal favourite is the pirate. :D

Cool stuff. ^_^

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, it's a shame that Serinor died... last time I heard from Eldritch was like April 2005, so it's been a while. I don't think it will restart anytime soon. I'm currently thinking of my own project and playing around with a (sexy) platform engine Overkill sent me. I will eventually make a demo to test my concept. But it's hard to find time to work on it, college is taken a lot of my time.

Oh, and does like anyone know of a sort of place where pixel artist gather. I would love to see other people's work and since the art forum is dead most of the time. Heh

Hi Syn!
Here is a copy of an E-mail I just sent to B. Eldritch today:

BJE,
I know it's been a long time; I took a look at your
main page and noticed that you not only graduated from
school: you've married. Congratulations! I want to
inform you of my main interest and its development
over the time since I last contacted you; but first, I
want to say that I've gained a great respect for how
much work it is to map with VERGE--I haven't forgotten
the SeaCave map (I've begun adding the west to east
part that you'd told me should be the main part of the
map, just blocking it in as you did the terrain of
orth Amin--a new version is attached to this E-mail).
Sequencing music has become my first love, and yet I
am very much still a novice: I have bought Sonar 5 PE
(a fairly good sequencer), East West Colossus (a broad
yet somewhat shallow sample library and virtual
instrument in one whose focus is allowing one to play
and compose most styles of music; for example, part of
it is a 14GB General MIDI set), and a Novation ReMOTE
61 keyboard controller so that I can play music into
the sequencer. I have a steel acoustic guitar, and my
family has a full upright piano with grand model
strings on the bass end, yet I have no microphone to
record them. I use them to compose chord progressions
and melodies which I can then adapt to computer
sequenced music with the above keyboard controller.
Every week and a half or so, I get an interesting idea
on the piano and jot it down in the sequencer
afterward--and, less often (because it is more
difficult), the guitar.
Here's a song I did little by little for a contest
over the course of about 45 days:
http://www.eclipticmusic.com/audiofiles/musicians/Chris_Dratz/Journey%20into%20the%20Light.mp3
Here's one that I did free from tempo just for
enjoyment:
http://www.eclipticmusic.com/audiofiles/musicians/Chris_Dratz/Olde_Guitars.mp3
(one guitar part is virtually impossible to play and
sounds to some like a harpsichord)
I've always had using some of my music for Serinor in
the back of my mind, and, occasionally wonder about
it...whether you and who ever else is working on the
music would go over ideas and ask me to expand on ones
you like (if any ^_-, I hope) and accept some of it
for the game in MP3 format.

Best regards,
Chris. Dratz

I know it's been ages, and, remembering the work I did with Paint Shop Pro in the old days of DOS VERGE, I really respect your art--and you may have caught my E-mail comment about mapping, too!

Best regards,
Chris. Dratz

I still use Paint Shop Pro 3.0 for pixel art.

Hey Dratz, I was about to shut down my computer and I just remembered it had been a while since I last checked this section. And surprise, a msg for me. :)

I see you are doing well, taking a greater interest in music creation then before. I'm no expert on it, but I like Journey into the light. It has a nice feel to it, I noticed all your music has a very soothing style. ;)

I'm currently attempting to start my own project, but the lack of a good coder available as well as a secondary artist are giving me some problems. I might just write a book, would be a better use for my time since all verge projects seem to die off. It's like a fucking curse!

As for Eldritch, he is busy with more important matters in his life. I don't think he has abandoned Serinor, but just decided he wanted to work on it at his own pace. I'm sure he will be delighted by some content from you.

If you want to talk to me, you can always email me at the old hotmail address I used for serinor. In case you forgot, it's knightmare_syndrome.

Take care

I'm still working on a map.

It is pretty big and is nearly finished, but I'll need some help with the scripting to make it fun to play in.

Regards,
Chris. Dratz
