Since there are a few of you here with drawing tablets, maybe someone here can solve my problem.

I have an Intuos 6x8 serial tablet. Everything is plugged in. The light on the tablet is orange unless I actually press on it with the pen, which makes it turn green. It does not turn green from having the pen in close proximity, however.

When I first installed the tablet on this computer, I got into this weird cycle where it would always fail to find it whenever I turned my computer on. Then I'd reinstall off the CD, and I could use it until the next time I turned my computer off/on. I downloaded the newest patch from the website for my tablet, but that patch doesn't seem to work until I restart my computer, and when I do that, it still doesn't work.

When the computer starts up, I get a small window in the upper left that is for the tablet. It has a tiny icon of the tablet which, after a few moments, gets a green check, and the window disappears. This window appears about two minutes after everything else has finished loading up. During that time, if I try to access "My Computer" it will not find anything (the Explorer window will just show the flashlight graphics looking for drives it can't find). When the driver for the tablet finally loads up, "My Computer" works normally.

So.. what exactly is your problem? That you have to keep reinstalling your drivers, or that you can't do anything until the driver loads?

The light is acting as it should. A quick check on my tablet verifies that the green light comes on when you "click" with either the pen or the mouse.

What OS are you using?

Also you may want to look into downloading the latest driver, uninstalling your current driver, and then installing the new driver, instead of putting the new one on top of the CD one. The CD one is sorely out of date.
