Does anyone remember the VMG from days of old?

Do we have enough unattached musicians or free-floating music to revive said guild?

Would a guild be necessary, or would it be better to merely place information about contracting musicians and music directly on the v-rpg.com boards?

Do any of the old guilders still read these boards? What do they think?

Just a thought, filfre to discuss if interested.

Well, I was assuming that the VMG would be a Team, but I'm not working on any of the Teams/Games crap until:

1) I finish my Sully-obligations.
2) Thinice does some little fixer-upper stuff around the house that is verge-rpg.com

So yeah, whatever.

I would be very, very interested. I vaguely recall said guild from the past, needless to say I was not a member. I think a guild would be an exceptional way to get more original music in VERGE games. I tried my best to do it for the HoV, but I know sometimes its hard to find musicians. If SDHawk hadn't have said "I need a catchy tune for my HoV game..." in IRC, I wouldn't have been involved in that project. And I wouldn't want to clutter the boards with "NEED MUSISHUN 4 GAME PLZ" threads, so having a seperate website or board or whatnot would be good.

Hey, wha- damnit Grue, you snuck a post in there. I guess it could be a team, but there are other, quicker means of doing it (judging from the likelyhood of you finishing your Sully obligations or ThinIce doing anything).

I like Grue's team idea. Then you could also have the League of Crafty Tile Artists and so forth, along with any music or code or art guilds, without having to set up convoluted and neverupdated sites. Good show!

We should contact the prior members, though, and see if they still live and breathe and track. :)

Hmmm, that's true. I guess the team idea is solid. I only worry about when the team system will be completed. I don't want to push Grue to do things he doesn't have the time to do, either.

Who were the old members? I'd be interested to see if I recognized any of them.

Heheh. Never thought the VMG would acquire such a life of it's own back when I started it back in the day. But it just seems to keep popping back up.

I'd love to see it started up again.

A while back I found a cached version of the old VMG website,
but sadly it doesn't seem to be around anymore.

However, #mod_shrine, the old home of the vmg, seems to have lived on and even has it's own webpage now. I think disturbed and some other old members could be found lurking around there.

Just do a google search for "Verge Music Guild" and you'll find a few things.

Well, with that overwhelming vote of confidence from the creator, I move that we try to track down some more of the old members and ask if they'd like to return to the guild.. and then rebuild it!

VMG forever!

...in a slightly unrelated note, it looks as though #mod_shrine still does compos. Compos are fun. I urge any trackers to try them out, they really help hone your skills and expose you to new ideas and different styles. :)

I have vistited #mod_shrine. I was met by Thrasher and MyNameIsJeff (I also saw ArcticFox), none too warmly. Thrasher also pointed me to another, more consistent compo at #turtleshead. However, after downloading a votepack or two from the website, I can safely say that #turtleshead is for losers and no one should go there. The quality of entries in #mod_shrine was phenominally better. Hopefully they will have a compo this weekend, either Friday or Saturday around 10 or 11 EST. If one is held, I will enter, if anyone would like to join me.

I'd suggest an accompanying Verge Artists Guild but it would have a rather dubious abbreviation, at least where *I* come from...

VAG? What, can't they pronounce it right?

In the US, acronyms ending with the word "guild" are pronounced with a hard "G". The closest thing to VAG for us would be fag...

So... you make it something else, like the League of Crafty Tile Artists (LCTA) or something even more boring as an acronym. :)

I have heard "Vag" pronounced 'Vaj' like Mister Burbidge was suggesting.

Anyways, if you have issues with the other interpretation, well, you shouldn't've become an artist, son! :D

Language is always a rich source of humor for me.

Penne pasta is a fairly popular dish here in the US, and my fiance and I were told it was the special of the day at a restaraunt we were at once. To her Spanish speaking ear it would be spelled "pene pasta". Translate that via my sig to find out why she blushed and ordered something else. :)

Sorry, my fault.

If we start an artists guild, I vote for it to have the following abbreviation:

V.A.G.U.E

That's the Verge Artists Guild of Unbelievable Excellence.

I don't know Interference, something about that title is indescribably unclear... Its like I'm not pinning down the true meaning... Whats the word... Oh, yes. Its a bit vague.

Maybe you could publish a bi-monthly art style magazine!

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
