Alright, I've been doing a lot of work on Trebezia lately, and when I'm not working on the game code/graphics themselves, I'm usually writing the script and plot to flesh out ideas for myself. Now, I have a carnival in my game that's run by the character Gambit, in which the players are able to have some lax time and play a host of different games of skill, chance, fun, and amusement. Some are storybased, some are humorbased, none are the boaring "tap your button consecutively". Now, I was thinking about having an Arcade Tent there too, where the Dracotech Labs head scientist, Dr. Hoss, could display his newest works in the field of magic and technology, merging polished surfaces with nobs and things to create a game of sorts. What I thought I would do is, rather than create very few mini games that would have no meaning or enjoyment whatsoever in the grand scheme of things, I would ask everyone on the Verge site to see if they would like to submit a small 10 - 15 minute (or single episode/experience/outtake) of their game, that would be similar to a complete game experience, but in a very little snipit, relating to your game. When I say demo, I don't entirely mean that it is the demos most of us are working on, being 10 - 15 minutes of our game from the beginning, and stop, but rather, that it's a game you design, and would be completely up to you, that would be the equivalent of a speedy run-down of your game. These can be humorous, adapted from your current game ideas, original works, or if no one wants to donate stuff, or create their own, I can do this section myself. I don't want this to be a demo for your game completely, and the reason being is that I don't want to give anyone less than fair time, and since all our demos are of varying lengths, and our storylines and talents of varying degrees, it'd be hard to compress some of your games into a 10 - 15 minute demo that would tell a complete storyline. So if anyone is interested, would like any more info or things, let me know. There's no real restriction, since a 50X50 map of the tent could easily store over 90 games in a circular fashion and whatnot. Thanks for any ideas or submissions. =)

First off, I think you should have a variation of games, rather than just asking people for their rpg demos. After all, it's an arcade.

Not to say everyone should make Space Invaders and such, but just unique things.

This is funny timing because I'm actually planning a new game expounding on my old Raptor: Alien Apocalypse and I could use an exercise in reacquainting myself with the engine. Perhaps I will consider your proposal. (Rubs chin like the godfather.) Yes, the possibilities are endless...

I think a good mix of short-rpg/adventure games, faster action games (like Space Invaders and Zara's little Zeux thing, which would make a great contribution even if you only received the first three levels or so), slow and basic puzzle games, and a few maddeningly pointless ones (like a game where you move the mouse and it leaves droppings on a virtual canvas--great fun!) would serve you well.

Good luck! And don't be surprised if something from me turns up in a couple weeks...

I didn't mean to emphasize that the room was to be filled with people's RPGs. The carnival itself has a multitude of games, which is in the field surrounding Gambit's manor, but also in his manor itself. There are quite a few game ideas I've been batting around, what I'm talking about is just 1 of those game rooms, which would be this arcade. The other games are based upon my game world, and will give you prizes acordingly, the arcade itself, which is the room I'm talking about for people's demos and short game ideas, is literally nothing more than a relaxing period if you want to step away from the first third of the game, and try this out (maybe win prizes, tickets, or whatever the carnival currency becomes), etc. This is purely a for fun room which is meant to be humorous and non-Trebezia-oriented really, and got me thinking that it'd kind of be a perfect way for people to get to spoof their own games/demos, or present a small demo, or whatnot. This wasn't meant to imply that they all are required to be RPGs by any means, but it was meant to flaunt anyone else's game/demo/creativity. Mainly I figured people on this board are always looking for a little fun that allows them to pull away from their main projects and dive into the community, I know I always am, so this little offer is more or less to those people. I'm looking forward to your ideas though, cuz as long as you don't go with the mouse droppings one, it sounds like it'll be a blast ;p. Also be aware that I've been doing a lot of graphics, map work, and character animations, some vocal recording, a lot of scripting, and so forth, but nothing more than the intro screens which display Dragonsoft, my FBI warning, and the game start screen have been coded, so for which engine you would have to use to be compatible with mine, that's difficult to say, but I'm using V2k+j right now. My final engine, hopefully, will be Speed Bump's 2.7, mostly because of the .IT capability, which makes about 30 songs I previously canned, now available, and far more appropriate then some of the fillers I replaced them with. The most important aspect is the MP3 compatibility now that he's opened up with the IT allowance. So that's just to give you an idea. Other than that, any other ideas or thoughts, feel free to lemme know.

The Realm of Trebezia Quote of the Day
"The purple thunder on the eve of last plays a somber melody upon my heart, a symphony of foreboding shadow that devours the ear and raptures the soul, and I greatly fear the musicians."

I think it would be better to use 'enraptures' instead of 'raptures', since the first is more common usage and the latter is usually a noun. They both have good-feeling connotations though, so maybe you might want to find a better word altogether. Good quote otherwise.

I think the problem was that I accidently typed Raptures when I meant to type Ruptures, as in causes distortion to. You're right though, I apologize for being so grammatically out of focus. ^_^ How can RPGs be made if I can't tell the simple difference between a noun and a verb??? Well, guess I could always work for Square. ;p
