rpgking	"need... must... have... sweet sweet battle systems..." This doesn't seem like a question to me. It looks like somebody wants to make love to a battle system REALLY badly. Anyway, the best way to learn is to look at other people's sourcecode. But it's kind of hard to find good battle system source since the Vergesource went down... In the meantime... you can look at the source for the one I made for Dragon Warrior Legend, which is a lot like DQ3 reprise. But it's not too easy to understand...
