So, with the present limitations... can anyone play it? Also, anyone want to mirror? Also, any other thoughts?

I've played little less than an hour now, and the first thoughts are that my expectations have been fully met with this release. It's definitely a great game, the atmosphere is very Shadowrun-like and the story seems interesting from the start.

Tile-graphics and chrs are OK, artwork is amazing, as well as the battle backgrounds. Most of all, they create the feeling needed for a game like this. Music fits to the game really well too, and overall desing is very clever.

I must say that I haven't been this excited over a computer RPG in a long time. Congratulations to the team!

I, as well as most other people here using win2k/XP, envy and by extension hate you. ;)

I've got win2k and keep getting a General Protection Fault(I kind of guessed that it wouldn't work, but I tried anyway). Looks like I'll have to wait for the WinV2 version.

Look around in the Verge-Net downloads section -- V2 engine files. There's a program there simply called "Verge 2 for Windows." Apparently Andy made it a while back, and it runs V2 games in a window straight out of the box. It's how I tried out the Bridget III game on my XP machine.

Mind you, it runs windowed (I never figured out how to get it to run fullscreen) but if you're desperate it might do for a while.

it doesn't look like it anyway. I'd advise everyone to wait. Vecna's doing a good job fixing bugs and we'll both make sure the game is up to par before releasing. And it shouldn't take too long.

It won't get a full game test like the DOS version did, so you'll need to report bugs to me, as usual. (On that note, there are two specific issues I can think of that I'm scared the packfile system screwed with. Well, tell me if you crash :)

I'm glad you're able to play. Most of that first hour is very similar to the v1 demo, and it really takes another hour or two before the game really starts to shine. But if you're happy now ...

WinV2 makes every zone an adjacently activated zone. So if your DOS version had some zones that are not meant to be adjacently activated, there may be some unsightly stuff going on in the WinV2 version. If vecna fixes this WinV2 bug though, more power to him...

I get this strange bug at times: when loading my game, all the text in the inventory and textboxes disappear. When I load another file that's been saved at the very beginning of the game, then exit and load the file I'm currently playing, it gets fixed. Also starting a new game and then loading fixes it. It's just a minor nuisanse though. I got it once when I saved in the swamp and now in the town of Emil.

I didn't have much time to play today, but it's been so long since the V1 demo that even the beginning of the game feels fresh. The gameworld is like a mix of the two of my favourite RPGs, Shadowrun and Fallout, so I've just been enjoying the mood mostly. =)

There are screenshots on Grens website, which has been linked in the banners and as a plaintext hyperlink in the two recent newsposts.

That's the second time someone mentioned that to me, and I've never seen that bug before ever. That's pretty weird. I'll look into it.

I've now played more than 6 hours, got past the mines in Act 2 a while ago. The game is quite challenging indeed, and it's definitely not for those who enjoy an easy ride through the game in the new Final Fantasy style. Actually I've played a lot longer than 6 hours, when you count all the deaths and occasional crashes.

Some critic though: some of the normal battles seem to be almost impossible to escape. It's often much quicker to hit Alt+x and reload the game than wait for your party to get slain while trying to run. This can get frustrating at times.

What I really like is the game's level-up system: every time you gain a level it really feels like you are rewarded for hard work. This is what I loved in Baldur's Gate and Fallout. Games where you get level-ups every now and then really kill all the joy of it.

The visual presentation ranges from average to amazing. Some backgrounds in the battles are really simple, while others are impressive. Also the chr-sprites vary in quality: the party members look good with the black outlines, but townsfolk can be rather simple in appearance. Other artwork (portraits, cut-scenes...), however, is great all the way.

It's a great game. =)

The game is now finished, it took a little less than 15 hours for me to complete. Here's my review:

I sure had great time with the game, hopefully the WinVerge-version will be released soon. :)
