The final demo of Dragon Warrior Legend(before the final release), has been completed! Lorik of Alefgard.com mirrored my file, because the one on my mastercain homepage is way too slow right now. Here is the link:

And there are LOADS of new features in this demo(but I don't know if many of you have played the last one). Among them are a completed DragonQuestIII Reprise-style battle engine, along with fully-coded spells and monster AI. And...it has a story too. So go download it now. I want feedback!!

P.S. Read the README file before playing.

Get it!

By the way, we're just in the middle of a move, so everything's just messed up.

I'm a rather big fan of the Dragon Warrior series, ever since dragon warrior 3. I've recently had the opportunity to play dragon warrior 1,4 and 6, and the new dragon warrior 3 remix for GBC.

I see that you are trying to use a similar approach to your game, using simplistic graphics and music, making it up with (hopefully) deep gameplay. I'll admit, I didn't play the demo you made very far...I got into a fight with a stag beetle and a slime right off, and they both did critical hits before I had a chance to do anything. So maybe you might want to tune your critical hit rates a bit in the final version. :)

I especially like the fact that you used music from dragon warrior monsters. I love that game. :)

I would be glad to help or give advice on anything about the game. I'll try to play your demo through this time.

You must've tried to click on the top 2 downloads, which are the private downloads for registered members. Instead, use the downloads at the bottom, which are the public downloads. I have no idea why they have 2 sets, but the bottom ones are the ones to use.

It is kind of hard when you're at level 1. But the best thing to do is buy a club with the 30g you find in the castle, then get to level 2 fast, and you'll be ok.

For anyone that didn't read my reply to Zaratustra, you have to use the bottom downloads(which say public servers). There should be 3 of them. Don't use the top 2 because they are personal servers which require registration.
