yep, im all over this one..I would like to knw how you go about making mod format music. I have been writting midid for some time now and after working in the yamaha xg library, i want to make my own sample based music. i received a copy of readon and orion from my friend but to tell you the truth, im totally lost in it so i was wondering what you people, the vergers use to make your music. also, i have been fairly discouraged to find that all the programs that i have downloaded use pattern based music and i wanted something the can write like a midi program. I currently use midi soft 4.0 and i use cool edit 2k to make sounds in combination with my SB live . any help would be appreciated.

Incidently, no one replyed regarding the vedic mirage project, am i to assume that no one has the interest in a challenging project? this one would surely turn out that way. but who knows, maybe programming 3d into verge would prove to be too hellish.

First off, MODs, XMs, S3Ms and ITs are, by definition, pattern based. Pattern-based music suffers from no restrictions that MIDI doesn't have, and in fact allows for more freedom in a few areas. The two most common among vergers (as far as I'm aware) are ModPlug Tracker and Impulse Tracker.

CoolEdit is a good choice for creating samples.

My last comment is in regards to 3D in VERGE... it's possible (in fact it's been done to a degree), but not practical. The VERGE engine itself is designed as a 2D engine, and "faking" 3D in it would be too slow to be practical.

well, as for the 3d bit. i am on an athlon 500. i would be making my rpg for p 233's and above simply because quality of the world is really important. besides, im in for the challange too. see, the graphics are all 2d, but they are possitioned like 3d in 3d space and the sprite animated in that plane. as for the characters, to make the effect greater, the characters are all done in low poly to make the effect of real 3d. prerendered of coarse. interactivity and livlyness is important in this one. thus, it is more of a scratch project as my main character looks about as good as a ff10 model right now. verge is more powerful than sprite by far for this crap.
