Just wondered what the latest user-friendly VERGE release was that can do the following:

1) Work in Windows XP (Including a V1 WIN EXE update? Been using an old Win Verge exe and it randomly doesn't show the colors and has odd errors now and then, but otherwise kinda works =P)

2) Can play MP3s (or not, just a wish list)

3) Can support palettes greater then 256 colors for both maps and chars, not using the old method of chars having to use map palettes that an old Verge release had, or Speed Bump's, I can't remember.

Thanks for any response all. =)

v2.6 is the only Win2k/XP friendly verge that does more than 256 colours. It plays MP3 too, incidently.

v26 has its own 16bpp file formats, though there were never any good tools for actually using the things.

Latest and greatest: http://ikagames.com/andy/v26r6b3.zip
There's an older release that some folk prefer, but I can't remember where I put it. Whoops.

You may want to check out Sphere or ika. (Sphere just hit 1.0, and I've sort of gone into overdrive on ika)
