1st - this is not for verge, but its good practice for any artist who wants to do it, so please don't get too mad, even though i am a large bastard
I need a drawing of a human body done with the muscles drawn, so that they can be labeled and used in a weightlifting site. I would be more than happy to provide a link to your site on our page in return, and it is a high traffic site. IF you are interested, reply here or email james@weightliftinginfo.com

a) Do not -again: DO NOT- make public and/or mass requests. This is like "Hey, I'm cool. Everybody wants to draw for me. Maybe you're happy and I choose your drawing!"... :P
Just email artists you like personally (and no, not every artist you know :P).
b) Don't put it as if YOU were doing US a favor.
"...but its good practice for any artist who wants to do it..."
If I wanna practice, I draw stuff the way I want... I don't have to take requests for that. :P
c) No offense, but Verge is CERTAINLY not the place to find "the best artists". :P While there are some good artists in the Verge community it's mainly a community of game developers and programmers. You should check out one of the countless ART communities out there (Don't mass request there again tho... -__-).
Just my two cents as an aspiring artist.
Niko~

Assuming you meant me:
*sigh* You get pissed of easily don't you? I get way too many requests like that, and they annoy me, I just felt like voicing my opinion.
And you insult me. o_O

Lofti.. would a 3D rendered character work as well. I have Poser4 which features FULL anatomy. You can control a person like a digital full-jointed barbie doll. To see some of the sprites I've done leave me mail or check out my webpage. I can make the sprites as large as you want and in any kinky position you need.. huuu hmmm... oh, I mean any position you would require.. :)
hahah
Poser4 Rulez.

to start, i did apologize like seven times in advance because i knew that some people would not like it. Niko, i think your art is truly the best I have seen pretty much anywhere. I didn't mass mail anyone, I didn't attack anyone, I came here cus I know the people are chill and I know that there are some people here who could do what I asked. Im not evil, im not trying to trick anyone, or maim little animals, I was just looking for a favor.
I'm not upset or bitter or angry, but I would agree with evilbob that you could've been a little less of a dick in your reply. Sorry to everyone

Niko is just roosting. Most artists don't treat requests as an insult. His advice is askew from My position, and I'm one of these "artists" he referenced, of whom we feel like him...
You are not "mass requesting", you are filtering for eagerness. Obviously, niko wouldn't have helped even if you did mail him. Also, Keep acting as if you do like us, and it is all cool. Otherwise we have no grounds to assume you'd appreciate it (as if we have grounds to claim you're just trying to be cool). Keep the practice in the request. You are not doing us a misfavor through intense false advertizing, nor are you forcing the evil path of "I diswant practicing anatomy" upon niko. It is still a request, and I would appreciate the practice, even if you do mention it. and !"offense"! but verge is odviously a good place to find me, and niko, who both consider ourselves "good artists". I am my favorite artist. Niko may be above that, or he may be speaking for the other bad artists here; odviously aloof to non-e-mail requests, and not intended to condescend to hearing them. However, Niko once told me that art doesn't have to be good or bad (conviniently, he told me that after I complimented someone else, during a week of self doubt). If so he may not care wether there are some or several "good" artists, so that arguement is pretty null. niko is prone to this. In fact, niko just nulled at you above.
You did come to the right place actually. Although I may be opening the gate for "mass requesters" in his no request zone, I'll draw the muscle folk. I cannot draw it without an image to work from though. Kind of ironic, if you actually had an image all along. If you want it re-interpereted, E-mail me with more information, if you think I'll do.

I know I give it a lot...
Niko does have a point, though...a LOT of people, lately, have been coming onto the boards and asking people to make things for them.
This is not necessarily a bad thing, but the issue is how people approach the community when they ask. As Niko said, they treat it as though it were a privilege to do something for them.
I also agree with Niko that posting a mass "help me" post is not the best way to go as it is just an invite to flamers.
While I don't agree with Niko's delivery, he has a talent of saying exactly what's on his mind. He can sound a little harsh at times, but he'll give it to ya' straight. It's too bad that many people can't take it like that.
Anyway, I've rambled enough...time to call Amber ^_^

Well I've been apologizing from the start so I guess its fitting that I end with one too. I'm sorry for those that got upset. I'm sorry for those that were insulted. I did not mean for this to be spam or mass mail, and I did come here because I know there are plenty of talented artists around. I got exactly what I wanted from ExploreRPG, so I will leave happy and hopefully leaving will make others happy.
Thanks again

Hmm.. Although I am in partial agreement with Niko, I too do not like the way he presents his answer, and I have this impression he's trying to represent all the Verge artists, which he explained in his leaving post. Lofti, I personally do not mind this kind of posts asking for an art request, although some are pretty pointless. And I can assure you that the best artists you say, aren't lying around here anymore. Look at Larswood, that's a true solid artist. And even better, when Diver Down is released, take note of Metro, you'll see what pixel goodness is all about. :)
Also, a personal note.. I believe that art is a way of expression, whatever you draw is what you want to present, so there cannot be a "good" or "bad" in that. However, what I can differentiate in "good" or "bad" art is whether the piece presents its theme clearly enough, whether it is in proper articulation and style, and mostly, whether I like it. I don't give a fart about people hating a piece of art I like.
And finally, even if you do know any artist as a friend, asking that artist friend to help you do a piece of art may be irritating, because artists draw what they want to draw, and not follow exactly to what they're told to draw. So posting on a board can attract an artist WILLING to draw for you, and I think that's ok. Personally. Also, human body drawings can be found plenty in tutorials, I suggest you start looking for some there :)
Just my 3 cents as an artist who won't be around frequently anymore :P

You can't expect things like these to recede after this. There will always be newbeis and there will always be annoying newbeis. Might as well seperate them from the people whom like to guillotinize them...

If you read above posts, I have been following verge for years. I've used the message boards in the past. I knew what I was doing would not go over well with some people, and I pre-apologized like 5 times in the original message, but I just didn't think it would cause this much of a problem.
Newbie board is a great idea, but I don't think it would have made a difference here.

...i'd apologize for everything happened. though that's not my kind of cake. i hope you won't leave, nor will heed the newbie-phobia that reeks on the boards.
general boards as far as i know can have requests and is it me or am I the only one who thinks your first post wasn't anywhere near over-zealous?
if it was about music, i'd prolly answer in a positive manner and i think this is one of the better kind of posts i see on the verge board.
the best would be announcments about new games and demos. :) please people, show your homepages and stuff! :D or tell your ideas a bit, would be nice.
zaril, over and out. peace and harmonicum.

You're not a newbei to Verge, but you don't post too often here so you're pretty much a newbei to the community I guess.
But still, I would certainly appreciate an off-topic board where we could whine about Canadian World Domination or Peeing Tube experiments...
