Just wanted to celebrate the glory of maped. I started on my best project on yet, and if it weren't for backup (thank you thank you thank you) I would have lost it forever. I'll link an image further down this post, so don't flame it yet. To whomever created maped (the version I was using is maped2 the latest version) I hold you in higher esteem than god. Just wanted to let you know!

MapEd is buggy, outdated and annoying. I try to avoid the satanic thing as much as I possibly can. It's corrupted my VSPs on multiple occasions, it can't edit the new VSP format and its tile editor is primitive. While it's definately better than nothing (DEFINATELY), but it really needs to be improved upon. Hopefully tSB's WinMapEd will get some more features soon. MapEd has caused everyone great pain and it deserves to die a painful death.

Its an ancient art, of... ah, tile-mak-foo. Learned by dedicated individuals worship computer art in its most basic form. Pixel art, trained in a Zen like computer trance, these few individuals can accually make grass tiles look like grass. Unfortunatly due to enviromental changes (Nintendo 64 replacing SNES) These people nearly died out. Its quite a tradgedy, considering 64 blows.

Maped is one of the greatest things in Verge! It's so easy and quick to make maps with! I've used it so much for so long that I've even developed a saving routine: I almost subconciously save my maps two or three times a minute, so I don't even need the backup!
And tile-ed is great as well, but perhaps only for those who can master it...

The tile editor in MapEd 2 isn't actually the intended tile editor. If you look at the source code I left a comment somewhere near the top of the file mentioning that it was going to be replaced. Unfortunately due to real life commitments I never did get round to doing so. What's in MapEd 2 is a functioning prototype. The code's a bit messy but it all works. And nobody in the two years since MapEd 2 was publically released has yet complained about a tile editor bug ^_^;
