I'm extremely pissed.
WHERE THE FUCK DO I START?!?!?
I'm tired of people telling me to read this FAQ and that guide because it's all BS. There's like 50 billion versions of Verge and everyone tells me to read the guides but the guides are like 5 versions back. How can you learn that way? There's so many files and utilities and Verge versions. I mean, almost every month theres a new version. How can I use the new versions if I don't know how to use Verge in the first place? It would be easier if you put all the utilities that you need with the Verge package instead of scattering them with the useless Verge utilities. Crap verge is so confusing I'd rather not use it. But people like me, who are not expert programmers, have no where else to go. FUCKING A. Make one version of Verge. Make one guide FOR THAT VERSION. That's all I fucking ask. It's too confusing to jump through 10 different versions of verge and pick through a million downloads (75% of them useless now) and a million guides on things I had no idea existed. You guys need to get organized. It seems like you only want the people who were here from the VERY beginning to use Verge. Whoever else comes in along the way is totally fucked because you have some weird system in which everything is confusing and vets point the newbies out to a million destinations. Well I've got news for you. I was here since the first version of Verge. It wasn't as confusing as it is now. There wasn't a million betas and builds. Utilities were explained so you could get the ones you need and the ones you didn't need. There was only one version of Verge and guides to teach you how to use that version, then when there was updates there was a guide on how to use that update. I think you guys should seriously start over and organize yourselves. You won't be getting any new verge fans the way you're continuing now.

yeowch. Take it easy and take it slow. Download Speed Bump's Verge 2 beta 8. It includes most of the tools you need. Then find either Sully Pi or ezv2 from Zaratrusta; they contain libraries of functions to help you get started. Then, ask questions on the boards if you run into trouble.
For graphics editing, use either Paint Shop Pro 7 or Photoshop 6; for sounds and music, either d/l them with permission from the Mod Archive or a similar place, like the Modplug web site.
There are some useful tutorials on VC coding on The Verge Source (it's down right now, though). Also, if you need other help, download Four (from the 4 Colors of Verge contest) or other 48Hov or the like games for their source.
You can have fun; just try a little harder. :D Best of luck.

A little heated, but right. No one ever seemed to want to release v2 in an easy package for beginners to get into. I always wanted to set it up myself, but I'm doing other stuff. And likely so is everyone else. Since the whole thing is free one can make the point that you have no right to get mad. There's also worth in finishing what one started, though, and it would help if a valid single zip file download was around. But I think most of the people who made v2 aren't focusing on verge anymore.
If it's any consolation I think tSB will try to fix all these things with 2.7- but we need to wait. And some of us might even help him replace that same map he always uses eventually :) .

Download the original release of v2. Read the documentation that goes with the original release of v2. The only utilities you need are maped, v2chr and maybe a few of the smaller ones.
If you need help go to #vchelp on esper.net in IRC.
That's all that I needed when I learned verge.

All scripts on tVS are incompatible with v2.7, mostly because it isn't v2. EZV2 and Sully Pi are for the v2k line of v2 versions. Also, I wouldn't recommend using v2.7 at the moment. It's good, but not finished enough to be geared towards ease of use. ;)

We're gonna need different versions of VERGE because people have different needs but it's getting kind of confusing now. What we needs is:
1) VERGE1 package (zip) and VERGE1 utilities zip.
2) Latest version of VERGE2.5 zip and latest VERGE2 utilities zip.
3) SpeedBump's VERGE2.6.whatever zip clearly labeled that this is not ready for game development yet. Just for testing.
And then delete all that other VERGE crap that seems to only be there for historical value.
P.S. There are more mature ways to whine...turn it into constructive critisism. :P
