This is an excellent tutorial by the_Speed_Bump which explains exactly how to do an item database.
Hope this helps.

(btw: I found this article at http://www.vergearchive.freeurl.com/mike which has a great amount of verge related files, docs, etc. =)

I have skimmed over that tutorial (and I fully intend on reading it thouroughly) but, I still am in the dark about what type of file a database is. Is it a text file? Is it a vc file? Is it a DAT file? thats all I need to know. Thank you, Rysen ^_^

It could be a simple text file and it would work just as well.
