Hey, I was wondering if anyone had all the docs and engine dev files from Tvs and would be willing (with tvs's permission, and the author's permission of course), to set up a small site with them on file. It would be nice to have verge-rpg contain them, but eh. I would do it myself, but I never got around to d/ling them. Just a thought since Tvs is down till next month (a shame ;( ). Just an idea, incase something happens to Tvs in the future. If anyone has the files and whatnot, but doesnt want to take the time themself, then I'd be willing to do it, if i can get everyone's permission, if they email me the files. Just a suggestion, thanks!

We would, but tere's no copy of the structure of tVS outside of their database, and Tat doesn't have the bandwidth to even do one download of the data.

So, no tVS and no tVS-centric docs. Not until next month. Sorry.

Granted, there's nothing we can do to bring up tVS right now, but once the site comes back up, shouldn't someone do what Joshito suggests, in case something like this happens again?

As he says, ideally verge-rpg.com would have most of the crucial downloads and documents mirrored, but that hasn't happened.

People always read no-text messages. I guess they think they'll find something funny hidden deep within the boards. Hmm....

The official site is never as good as a "fan" site. That's because the official site people have "official" stuff to do while the fan site people get to drink martinis with hot babes in an olympic sized money bin. I wish I had a fan site...

We already tried kinda of like a mirror of tvs. I had the Final Fantasy Chronicles website. It had more verge stuff than anywhere online. Many people were unappreacitive. They thought that I was just out to steal everyones credit for their hard work, which instead I was just trying to provide the community with the largest recource site for Verge. I did not try to take credit for any materials on the site. I just wanted everyone to be able to enjoy all the Verge resources and games I collected over the years I sat silent in the Verge community, I mean where else hosts half the old V1 games I had on the site??

Half the demos and thing on my site the authors were no longer around or haven't been active for years or just didn't find it necessary to update their email for people to get ahold of them, so should people be denied those games just because their author didn't leave a forwarding email?

Just like alot of the tutorial came from the Repo back in the days of Locke, a few are back up at Verge RPG.com but the ones that aren't should I not post them? I did not just copy from the Verge Source as some people would like to thing. I just wanted to provide a site with everything to the community. I would have gladly listed the authors next to the files or tutorials if I would have been asked or had more time with the site once I finally got it done.

Just thought I put in my 2 cents since I got ripped on when my site went down for some crap reason.

Is it just me, or does everything about Verge seem to revolve around the Verge Source? Like I posted a while back, I think the big loss for the Verge community is the sheer number of references and files missing from this site, that can only be found on The Verge Source. I happen to agree with Joshito and the rest though, what seriously needs to happen is that this particular site have a few more files to choose from, the directories are there apparently, they just seem to be void of files ^_^. I know Geocities has 50 megs worth of space you can get, with only 1 annoying rectangle of a popup for advertising, that's where my web page/s are located, and since you're not restricted to how many you can have, why not create 4 or 5 of them there, and have Verge link to them? If this is doable, I'd even create a fan site of sorts to try to put all the files up onto it, but I think something seriously needs to be done about all the dependency on the verge Source in order to get necessary files. The other thing too, is that it's not easy to figure out what files are useable with which new system after V2, since most all later verges, supposedly, use all of the original V2's utilities? No documents packed in with any engine have yet to say otherwise, so I still haven't figured that one out. I'd strongly plead that some attention be given to that issue as well, especially for newbies, but even for veterans alike who knew nothing of Maped 2+i. ;p I think the most important issue is to bring Verge back to the community hub, back to Verge-RPG, with dependable service, and useable documents. ^_^ The world will forever await the coming of The Speed Bump until this day.

I don't think a bigger collection of verge demos ever existed. It was a great repository, but I doubted it would get much traffic after people initially visited it and downloaded all they could. If anything new came out it would be on tVS and there wouldn't seem much need to go to your site. I'm not really sure if you were trying to do anything else with it, but strictly as a file collection I see no basis for anyone to complain.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
