I downloaded v27 from the link below, and followed the steps with the tut.txt file. When I went to run verge, it told me it couldn't load graphics.dll.

Anyone know where I can get that file? it wasn't in bigwadofdlls.zip

Open your user.cfg and change the first line to sys/soft.dll

Terribly sorry about that. Entirely my fault. Change the first line of user.cfg to read:
graphdriver sys\gfx_soft.dll

Subsequent revisions will have this fixed. Again, terribly sorry.

Heheh no prob, I came by to bug you a few times last night, but you were always idle. It is working now though, and so now I can continue. I noticed that the hero doesn't walk tile by tile, but pixel by pixel now. Is that standard in all of verge? Or is it new to this version?

If so, it would be possible to make the obstructions able to mismatch the tile sizes? Now that would kick ass.

That's new to v2.7, although it's quite possible to fake in earlier versions. (it's been done many a time)

um... I dunno about that. It tends to make everything easier when you know that one obstruction block equates to one map tile. Something to think about, I guess. :)

Hmm... I am pretty new to all this. I first discovered Verge quite a while ago, but never got around to playing with it. Now I have a chance to, however...

I am having the same problem. I have already changed the first line in my user.cfg to both the suggestions in this thread (in fact, it already read "graphdriver sys\gfx_soft.dll" when I downloaded it), but it still says "unable to load graphics dll" everytime I try to run v27.exe.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!
