MDI file archives? I *think* your .CHR extension is associated with some other program. Unless you get that error in v2chr, but I doubt it.
To change your association, open up any folder in My Computer, choose View - Folder Options (or just options, depending on your O/S version) and click the File Types tab. Then scroll down and find CHR File in the list. Highlight it, then click the Remove button to the right of the list.
Since CHRs are still edited with DOS-based programs, file associations won't even work, that's why I'm telling you to remove it. Then just start up your CHR editor and load it up from there.
Now, for question two. I'm not too familiar with sully pi since I had it on my HD for about one day :) But I bet it's under something like battle.vc, or something. No doubt it will be very cryptic if you don't have a very solid understanding of VC. Sorry.
