hiya people!! :)

I'm still working hard on my project and i've got some new pics to critique:

The intro page
http://pages.infinit.net/maina4/bg_new_bottles.jpg

I still don't have the title on this pic. I'm working on it... Easy to guess that the big hole on the pic is where the title will be. :b

Second pic is a B&W bg i've worked on. Last time i asked if I could use that kinda pic, since most of you said it would be possible, here is a sneak peak at what i really wnat:

And the last one is the new design of my main charater. It think this one will be final:

Thanks in advance for the critique!! :)

Cheers!!

ive been waitin for ya to post some new stuff. :) But I was hoping to see some new game ready sprites :( Anyway, I like the background of the lil town.. but you will have a hard time getting that to work right in verge i think. if you make it where the character can only walk on the paths then it will be easy... but if you want her to walk behind the fences and stuff then you will have to cut the fence and mailbox out, lay down the house and background on layer 1, then the entity layer, then lay down the fence and stuff as another layer on top of the entity layer.. it will take a lot of experimenting but if you can get it to work right it would look really nice!! I like the exaggerated style btw... its kinda like my lil game, but I chose to go a little bit more tile oriented rather than full drawn backgrounds.
lookin good, cant wait to see what your sprites will look like. ;)

... but no worries. I'm up for the task. If I need to draw all this in different layers, it should not be too much of a problem. It will just take more time. This bg what for a test. (it's actually a bg i've made for a work at school, I just re-used it because i liked it)

I didn't get much time to work on the sprites right now. I mainly worked on the menus. (which I think turned out good ^^ ) Next step will be some test animations for the battles system. That, I will be sure to post to get some good feedback!! :)

Woah, your stuff is just ooozing style. ^^ I wish you luck with that style of maps, it will be challenging but it's definitely possible to get it to work, with some clever layering. =)

Sorry I took so long to post my crit. All this World Trade Center stuff, and I work on a news staff :(

Title screen: beautiful! I especially like the window design for the title menu. The font is a little generic (i.e. it looks like a TrueType font) but I'm the only person in the free world who notices or cares :) I would do something with the background though. That texture is a little bland and repetitive. Add a gradient lighting effect, like torchlight, or maybe it could fade into an outdoor view, or something... hey, you're the artist.

B&W BG sketch: I love it! Reminds me of Legend of Mana. Aurora and I are trying to do a style kind of like that for our game, but a touch more realistic (only a little!) and also cel-shaded. As far as it being a map BG, the only problem is obstructions, since they're tile-based right now. Not a big deal in higher res, but it could be a little bit of a pain. Otherwise, it'll look great!

Main character: She kinda looks like a space alien that wants to sodomize me and eat my brains. It's kinda eerie =P Good artistry! It's just not my type. I'll shut up now :)

Okay, "you're welcome" post-mortem (or whatever) for the crit. I'm gonna go back to my life as a slave to journalism.... at least I've been able to squeeze in some time with Python! (see my post above... WAY above)

That is all.

P.S. You're a great artist, one of the few left on Verge IMHO. Keep at it!

We don't need better engines, we need better creation tools!

It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
