I went over to rpg2knet.com to read Iscarabraid's article, and something hit me: rpg2k is a fairly well-known program as far as RPG makers go, and since there are a lot of people who go to RPG2k sites, we might be getting a flood of newbies pretty soon, downloading engine files and posting messages and stuff. Now, I normally wouldn't bring this up, but this site has a problem, namely lack of newbie material. It took me a long time just to find the rest of Aen's tutorials at the Extended Play site, and for all I know there may be more out there than that! The docs section of the site remains (eerily) empty, as it has been for quite a long time. I guess what I'm saying is this: the site right now isn't exactly what one would call "newbie friendly," so wouldn't it be a good idea to get all of the documentation, tutorials, etc. that the community has and start posting them in their sections? Thank you, and good night.

I just joined here and found it difficult to find stuff for newbies. One thing though (which I don't know if people will aggree with me) is that there are no pictures of the program avilable. I like to look at the pics so I know what I am going to use looks like.

Hey Dragon! Nice to see rpg2knet users over here. I agree, with both of you. First off, my next article will have screen shots of Verge2 in it. As soon as I get a working link for WinV2 I'll have screens for that too. Verge-rpg.com is welcome to any of them they would like, simply let me know.
As far as Newbie material goes. By the end of my article, even your mom will be able to use Verge. The way rpg2knet is structured, adding article, tutorial and other such stuff is so quick and easy it's almost sickening (Kudos Squirrel and kDr for making such awesome scripts)so if you have tutorials or FAQs or somehting, fell free to send them to us.
And yes...once I feature WinV2, the flood of n00bs as we call them will come. No fear. If they misbehave, put the smack down and send them back to us for some more spanking (Iscarabraid likes giving spankings)but on the whole, we have some quality game makers as the members of our community. And any n00bs can be referred to our site as we have our boards and chat FULL of helpful people who are will to answer questions so you can all keep working on Verge and Verge Online.

I'd just like to throw out that if any newbies have any questions concerning differences between rpg2k and verge, they can feel free to ask me. Though I must admit I'm not exactly the most versed with either engine, I do have some experience with both of them. Besides, I love trying to help people. ^_^

. . . Iscarabraid, you may wanna start your readers off with V1. I know that nobody really uses it anymore, and it's not as powerful, but it's also much easier to understand than the VERY C-style V2. I don't know if there is a fairly stable version around, though. I don't know; just a thought.

Well... If you need help learning, go to #vchelp. There're plenty of people there who can help you with just about any Verge related question you might have. It's been quiet there recently, so newbies would probably be welcome, since that's what the channel's for anyway =P
To get to #vchelp, download mIRC from www.mirc.com , and go to neskaya.esper.net port 5555. I'm at the library right now, so this wouldn't be a good time for me to explain it in detail. If anyone asks, I'll explain more when I get home =P

I assume it ends with "If Hideo Kojima and Dexter Holland had a child, I would be that child" or something to that effect, which, BTW, kicks total ass, because the Offspring is the GREATEST band in the world, and MGS is one of the GREATEST games ever made!
Nice :)
That is all.

It's the one in the files section hereabouts. It was pretty stable on my comp at least and it runs under windows (though I don't know about win2k, me, xp, etc.)
That is all.

The other major VERGE site that is, on the whole, a touch more user friendly (in my opinion)
