. . . got Verge 2.6r2, compiled and ran. Now it's telling me that it can't load my "attack.wav", which probably means that it can't load any of my sounds since they're all identical. Does V2.6r2 have different sampling rate support or something? I don't know a thing about audio. ^_^

It worked for me. Just turn sounds off for now, and don't trouble yourself with it ;) If you've proved it works in V2.6, all I need to try it out is the v2kj executable in there and I'll try running it on my pc. Just try that out and email it to me. Alternatively, V2.6r4 has better sound (with Mp3 support) but lacks tile animations and has problems with the stupid keyboard.

v2.6 and dos verges require a specific WAV quality. Sorry I forgot about that :)

At least I don't think it does. It doesn't crash trying to load the wavs but it doesn't play wavs that aren't in the right format. The only ones I get to work are 20000hz 8bit mono. There may be more but I don't have to check.

It should support any mono wav. 20000hz, 44100hz, 8/16 shouldn't really matter. The only caveat is it has to be mono.
