In case you've been living in a shell, let me just say
OH - MY - GOODNESS.
The world trade center was attacked.
Here's what we know, and what we don't know:
- A plane crashed into one of the two towers. It
is unofficially identified as a commercial 737
that was hijacked earlier this morning.
- Eighteen minutes later, a second plane hit the
second tower. No confirmation on the plane type.
Several eye-witnesses have mumbled 'missle', but
from the pictures, I find this very unlikely.
- According to Canoe.CA, a THIRD plane hit the
Pentagon. This is the only site to have reported
this, but then again, this is the only site that
I can still get to.
- The west wing of the White House has been
evacuated due to terrorist threat.
- No death count yet, but the 737 WAS CARRYING A
FULL LOAD OF PASSENGERS.
- No offical confirmation of hijacking
- Nobody has claimed responsibility

- News sites are retracting reports that the planes
were fully loaded with passengers.
- More eyewitness reports are saying that the second
plane had no windows.
- Planes are shut down nation-wide
- White House, Capitol, Treasury, and State Department
have all been evacuated
- Speculation places the first plane as a hijacked
flight from Boston
- Even more speculation (less likely) places the
second plane as having flown out of Newark, NJ.
- One of the two Trade Center towers has collapsed
- People were jumping out of the building from the
110th FLOOR.
- Possible suspect--Osama Bin Laden. Once again,
pure speculation
- All bridges and tunnels into Manhatten are closed.
Just a note--all major news sites are down, so this
is mostly odds and ends that I've pieced together
from all over the place. If anymore has more info,
or can correct something I've said, please post.

First of all, thank you for telling us. Secondly, I think it would be best for us to remain calm and if you live in New York, DC, Maryland, or Virginia to call your family and make sure they're all right. This post isn't truly needed right here. Any reliable and informed information can easily be obtained on ANY news station and any news website right now.
What I'm basically saying is the last thing people need to be doing right now is playing "news anchor" and running in circles on every message board that exists on the net and has nothing to do w/ what's at hand. Please don't take this comment the wrong way and I'm not specifically targeting you. I am just seeing this a lot. I'm also seeing a lot of ridiculous Pres. Bush bashing which I also think needs to stop.

Ok, I'm not one to just fly off the handel and yell at people. Debate yes, yell no. However, YOU ARE A SMEGGING IDIOT. What we need to do is to beat the snot out of the people who did this and anyone who supportted it. Am I advocating nuclear war? No, noone wins a nuclear war. Is what I am proposing nice? No, not in the slightest. However being nice (and I speak from personal experience) doesn't deter people from beating up on you. And if we had Gore for a president, what would he do. Bush will go out kicking but and taking names. Also did you notice that there were almsot no terriost attacks during the Regan administratin? There is a reason for that. You see the terriost nations and organizations knew that they would get the bloomin' snot beat of of them if they came after us. What happens after Regan, we get the trade centers bombed once and a second one attempted, Oklahoma city gets bombed, and now this. SO SIT DOWN AND BE SHUTUP.

He got a Master's in Business at Harvard, no doubt and I seriously doubt his father bought it for him. I have heard he simply doesn't like speaking in front of people.
But yeah, just like you, I'm not certain that he is capable in handling the job. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong or I become president. P

The main reason I posted was because all the major news sites (CNN, BBC) were down, and I knew lots of people that couldn't find any information. So I collected what I knew and posted it here. Yes, now there's much more reliable news available, but when I posted it had just happened. This topic should be closed now that we are getting some serious answers.

...I was only four blocks away, in school, from the World Trade Center when the two planes crashed into the Twin Towers. I think they evacuated the school around when the first tower collapsed.
It was whoa...both towers are almost completely leveled, like only a few floors left. And one of the other buildings part of the complex also collapsed.
Anyway...whoa...

World War 3? Against who? A thrid world Country and a bunch of terrorists? It wouldn't be World War 3, not even close. Yes, we may have a war on our hands, but not a very serious one. You should know as well I do that the U.S is totally capable of handeling this situation. As for Bush, he may seem like a bad president, but now is his time to earn his money.
Although this IS big news, we should carry on with our lives and try to look on the positive side...Which I still can't seem to find.

Bush's playing with matches! He said on TV that US have to trash everyone's doing with this, which is no wrong with that, but...
If now the US goes to attack and kills any innocent people, it'll start a neverending conflict! Trust me! And if I should be really pessimistic, world war three.
But it isn't me that's out for trashing terrorists. No. I hope as much as you do that Bush'll trash those who's responsibly. Just hope that it'll succeed without any major issues, though...

I agree, in fact he's not the first president that didn't like public speaking. Thomas Jefferson had someone read all of his speaches to congress. And the way this investigation is going it looks like Bush is either doing a good job or delegated power to people that are doing a good job. Either way that qualifies him in my opinion.
