I released EzV2, nobody used it. Why?

I like tits.

I think people prefer writing up thier own code. Then again I guess that many are just too damn prideful to use code that others kindly provide. I don't see why they wouldn't use it or at least rip some of the code. You had provided a lot of nice stuff that could have been made useful.

1) Ezv2 never recieved alot of publicity on tvs or v-rpg.

2) Hardly anyone is working on a project.

3) Those that are working on a project want to code it from scratch.

4) Verge is a giant farce. We pretend we are working on projects but really we all just want to hang out in #vchelp, post on a message board, or hype/bitch about the different releases of v2. =P

That's all that I can think of anyhow.

I used it for acouple demos, I just seriously suck at releasing anything to the public, I have made several small games using Sully Pi, and several larger (but still small) games using EzV2.
Hee hee, I also once made my own demo, and I spent so much time on it that I ended up hating it, and I deleted it, started smoking crack, stoped showering, and started eating bird food...
well not really, but I did delete it, it was a big giant steamy piece of burito induced horse crap :-)

I'm going to make a verge, its going to be called Verge: ITLUYATSBOVOTOOAOCDTTKHTPIV, it will stand for 'Verge: Impossible to learn unless you are The Speed Bump or Vecna or Tatsumi Oreo or a cool Developement team that knows how to program in Verge' :)

I only use my own code. Most people don't use good indentation, and their code is inefficient anyway. If they're bugs (not often, though once in a while there might be typo or messed up algorithm), I already know the code, I can fix it quickly, and I don't have to fix any mistakes the other person made.

1) Ezv2 never recieved alot of publicity on tvs or v-rpg.

Far too true. Maybe some publicity on the vrpg board would help.

2) Hardly anyone is working on a project.

Also far too true. See my post below. As I write this, there's a whopping FOUR replies. That's a whopping FOUR Verge projects. Hmm...

3) Those that are working on a project want to code it from scratch.

Probably, but it's just because someone else's code may not do *exactly* what they want. Not that they can't use *part* of Ezv2.

4) Verge is a giant farce. We pretend we are working on projects but really we all just want to hang out in #vchelp, post on a message board, or hype/bitch about the different releases of v2. =P

I couldn't have said it better myself!

That is all.

Invic, what can I say, you hit the mark.

Nothing is keeping you people from using part or modifying the code that others supplying, so do it.
If it saves me time when it comes to the coding, I
definitely going to see what code is available and
break it until it works to suit my needs, especially
if it saves time!

"I'm lazy and I use my own code." I laugh! :P

If you're lazy, why not use someone *else's* code? Haha... okay, so no one cares. I'm a little wasted this morning... sorry.

That is all.

A)I'm not to the stage in my game when I'll need the stuff in EZv2 b)It's not quite the way I'll be doing things when I get to that stage and c)I'd have ended up hacking it to the point where it wasn't EZv2 anymore

I already had an 80% complete Dragon Warrior engine for my game when you released EZV2. If you've played my Dragon Warrior Legend demo, that's the engine I'm talking about.

But I still don't understand why lots of newbies(or non-newbies for that matter) don't use EZV2...because it really is easy & powerful(I actually played the demo that came with it). And it's a damn shame no one considers making a game with it, because it's got a lot of potential, and it's a great way to start, since it has most of the easiness V2 had.

Ulver

i downloaded it a month ago when i first came to verge. didnt use it for three reasons.

1) it didnt seem to explain things very well. I was just as lost with it as I was without it. That may not be the case now, but at the time it was scary. I never looked at it again. dunno.

2) I didnt like the attitude in which the docs were written.

3) Im insanely anal when it comes to any creation of mine, and must do every little detail my way, and by myself.

So ill learn to code myself. eventually. Right now im working on art and things but Ive fiddled with scripting for other games. Ive got some simple shiznit running. Shouldnt be too hard to learn the other stuff...
