I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a programming language thats easy to learn, and write, that really doesn't need to much art.
You know, just to kill boredom, like something that can make a paint program, or a nice applet that does nothing important.
I am just looking for something easy, that involves actual programming (so no on visual C++ :-) )
I'm thinking python, but it runs with a dos window behind it, and I dunno, its just alittle wierd..
Maybe I just havent looked into it enough.

that brings me to another question....
Does anyone know of a good site with python coding that had actual python made programs, that I can download, and play with, and learn from, and maybe some good tutorials, I'm past the whole "hello world" thing, but thats about it, theres not to many tutorials for python beyond that...

Damnit, I'm bored.

--recap--
1)need programming language to kill time, but does take up to much time, and minimal art.
2) need to know a good site for python applets, programs, and tutorials.

I am not leaving verge, but I need something that I can do in a day or 2 when I am not in the mood to create an entire world, several characters, a plot, a battle system, a story line, and all that stuff :-)

I'm going to make a verge, its going to be called Verge: ITLUYATSBOVOTOOAOCDTTKHTPIV, it will stand for 'Verge: Impossible to learn unless you are The Speed Bump or Vecna or Tatsumi Oreo or a cool Developement team that knows how to program in Verge' :)

Python is incredibly easy to use and learn. Also, you don't HAVE to have the Python interpreter running at the same time. A few programs simply run your code without it. (...or you can make your own. Look at v2.7.)
The best place to find Python tutorials is their official website. http://www.python.org/ Consequently, they also have a few links to sites with tons of third-party python modules and utilities. Have fun!

PYTHON RULES!
errrttt... ok, maybe not 'rules' but it does kick ass, I made a really nice program in less then a day.
its my kind of language, sorta confusing still, but I get to practice my warlording because I'm to lazy to find out how to add art to python right now, its sweet!
hee hee, well thats about it, I'm still confused abit about how python is going to work as verge 2.7s scripting language, I dunno, I just don't see it as a 'game' language, but I figure I might as well leave that stuff to the big guys of verge, they know what their doing :-)

I've always wanted to look into VB, but I was never able to find any good sites with tutorials on it, so I sorta scrapped the idea of playing with it, if you know of any links though, I am interested in it, as I have seen some good games made from VB.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
