Hey guys.. it's been a while. Most people probably have never heard of me. I was a silent follower of verge back right before verge 2.0 came out. =) I knew Lady Starmage and a few others.. either way... I'm impressed with where verge is today... I'm glad to see that it's progressing, and that the windows port (2.7) works pretty well. I do have a few questions about 2.7 though, and if I understand this correctly, these questions will probably be answered by the_Speed_Bump.
Okay.. question 1: Parallaxing is buggy.. when I save a map under WinMapEd, with 3 layers, and I put a 1/2 movement ratio on layer 2, and then I save, and reload, it changes the 1/2 ratio to layer 3, for no apparent reason. Has anyone else seen simlar errors?
It appears if I set layer 1 to this ratio, then next time I open it, it goes to layer 2, then the next time I save, to layer 3, and so on and so forth.. is this something that can be fixed in WinMapEd?
question 2: in the next release (or some time later) is mp3 support for songs going to be added? I know the list is long of things to do, but this would be a VERY nice, and I would assume easier of the possible "fixes and additions" for the next release, since 2.7 works using windows dlls.
question 3: what do I need to do to make transparancy work? or is that something that is still currently unavailable?
question 4: and I know this probably isn't a popular question.. but when is the next tenative date for a release of the python (2.7) version of the code?
Thanks for the help, guys!

will the "layer" transparency effer happen? Or is it just a nice thing to think about?

1) sounds like winmaped's fault. I'll take a look.
2) Still iffy. Most likely, I'll switch out MikMod in favour of aegisknight's (of Sphere fame) Audiere library, which incorporates MOD (and its offshoots), MP3, OGG and some others that elude me at the moment.
3) PNGs have alpha, yes. ^_^
4) I'm trying to release every week or so, but it's a loose schedule at best. :) If you're asking for the source code, it's already available. http://verge-rpg.com/~tsb/files/v27src.zip

Tiles have an alpha channel, just like PNGs. ^_~

Right... but I we can't just say "layer 2" has an alpha of 50% across the board, giving it a translucent effect? In WinMapEd, there is a box for it, but it doesn't have any effect in game, and it doens't save to the map file.

About the release schedule, on your page, v27.zip is the latest one available, but on another post, I saw you refer to v27r2.zip.. which is the version I have. Is there a particular reason the web page wasn't update? I don't mean to badger ya, I'm just curious. Thanks for everything!

er... v27r2.zip is an older one, and it's not online anymore.
From now on, it will always be http://verge-rpg.com/~tsb/files/v27.zip regardless of version. :)
And my page is one of those things that I've been known to update in times long past. I'm usually more concerned with updating the engine than my site these days. ^_~
