Well if you haven't heard of us, it's about time you did. Hi. I'm Iscarabraid. Co-webmaster of rpg2knet.com, a rpgmaking site that up to this point has been focused on rm2k.
Only a someone living under a rock the past year or so wouldn't know the trouble sites have been getting into over rm2k. I've convinced the staff that it's time to broaden our focus and move on to "more legal" rpgmakers. Verge of course was the first to come to mind. So now on to the questions.
rpg2knet wants to support Verge...do you have any kind of restrictions for sites who support verge we should know about before we start?
rpg2knet doesn't host rpgmaker2000 or games made in it, but we will continue to support graphics resources for it. Is this going to be a problem? We get alot of hate because of our connections to rm2k.
Lastly, we are a big site, we have alot of talented people working for us. We have a large user fan base. Anything we can do for you...let us know...we live to work (not really, but I'm brown nosing here, cut me some slack...it has to SOUND sincere...).
Thanks for your time.

I can't speak officially for the verge devers but there are many sites that support verge right now. But maybe I have been living under a rock (or just not following rm2k more likely) since I have no idea what legal troubles you're talking about.

Well, since it's obvious I'm going to be telling this story over and over and over again...one more time isn't going ot kill me so here goes.
rm2k is 100% illegal. It's a hacked demo that has been released without ASCII permission. Now some fool named Darshu got all bitter at his site and decided to turn on all the rm2k sites and reported every site he could find to ASCII. ASCII shut down all sites that offered rm2k (with the exception of Don himself, that crafty russian) without warning or notice. That wasn't good enough for Darshu so he convinced ASCII to take down any site with rm2k in the name, wether they had the illegal files or not. We barely eeked by with rpg2knet (we were THIS close to being rm2knet). Now we've know rm2k is illegal all along, but there hasn't been a better program for beginners out there (Sorry Verge dudes, it's a great program, but not a good one for morons) so we've stuck with it since the amount of new rpgmakers attracted to rm2k was staggering (We get roughly 1350 -1900 hits a day). Well, it doesn't take a genius to see that if we continue supporting an illegal maker we're doomed.
The only reason I bothered asking is the amount of bad feelings towards rm2k and those who use it.I don't want ot write a bunch of articles and start supporting Verge only to have someone affiliated with the project bitch slap us because they dislike rm2k and sites that support it (this happens more often than you think to us, we even had a representative at e3 and ASCII called us a bunch of "warez grubbing little kids"...lots of hate which we want to leave behind) so I'm just covering my ass. Thanks for being understanding...I know I'm long winded at times.

I don't see why there'd be any problems at all (see http://www.vergesource.com or http://www.verge-net.com). vecna (vecna@verge-rpg.com) would have the final say on any of this, but there's lots of verge sites out there and we'd all be happy to see another one.

Like lore said, we'd gladly welcome any new VERGE site. ^_^
Specifically, I wanted to say that I don't think anyone here harbors any ill-will towards rm2k, if they do it's misguided. As you've said, they're really two pretty different systems, rpgmaker2k is obviously easier to use for the average joe, while verge offers greater flexibility to make a wide variety of games. They're tools in the toolbox.
Although new devtools for VERGE are in the making, which should make it easier to use and more flexible.. at the same time??? Is it possible?! we shall see, I suppose. :D
