Just wanted to show you guys what we've been working on lately. I think were still at least 2-3 months from having anything ready for public consumption, but we're not vapor, we're way farther than we ever made it before, and way past the point of no return.

Here are two screenshots:

http://vecna.verge-rpg.com/vo-04.gif

The second one mostly shows off the "emote" functionality we've added. We currently have 40 of these emotes, all animated, and we're adding more quite frequently.

Most of the paperdoll art is by Falthorn. The map in these pictures is by evilbob; Idunno if this map will be in the "real" vo or not. We have a fully functional installer, autoupdater, and much of the main client. I think the most we've tested the server with is 8 people on at once but it ran absolutely awesome with smooth movement and hardly any lag whatsoever.

Anyway, that's all for today. Just wanted to let you all know that we're for real this time. ^_~

that the map is old (circa-1999) and from a game me and zero never got around to finishing. It was pretty much part of VO for testing purposes only, and I'd expect the final VO maps to be a lot prettier (regardless of who makes them).

We can't stop here! This is bat country!

VO's gonna be sweet! Just two questions:

1. What are you going to do about PKers?

2. Can you *please* move those god-awful name titles somewhere else? Like _above_ the character's head? Or make them come up only when you're near somebody? Ick.

I'm looking forward to VO. Keep up the great work!

That is all.

Will people be able to use their own original sprites? I remember some discussion about it the first time vo came around. I also asked because I noticed the the alien guy, from zara's 4four hov game, and figured that must be an individual player sprite.

Also, I can help with making variants of the sprite template, if you still need some one to do that. Here's a sprite template I made and a variant of it :

If you want my help email me at : choris@verge-rpg.com

PS : Due to the fact that I have both a v-rpg web and mail account I'll probably be donating some money. I don't have much though, I can only really pull around $20. =P

the 4Four alien guy is normal paperdoll stuff. Theres 4Four Helmet, 4Four boots, and 4Four armor. ^_~

That's an example of the kind of variety that can be accomplished with the paperdolls, so probably players won't be able to have custom base sprites. We gladly accept people contributing as many paperdoll components as we can handle. ^_^

The ability for different players to have different appearances was only recently added, so the namepastes were just a 5 minute hack for us to tell who's who. Trust me, we know they look retarded.

And just last night we added additive lucent blits! woo.

Give someone a program and you'll frustrate them for a day, teach someone how to program und you'll frustrate them for a lifetime.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
