I'd read the post, man. You probably didn't do the same.

Didn't completely understand that line. If you're implying I don't know what I'm talking about because I didn't read the post:
Ridicule doesn't have to be based on factual information. I personally didn't believe it when I was told he was making it in BASIC- I'm just telling you what made people mock him (that and other things).

It should read...

I had read the post (or message or note) that cyberdude had made. You probably didn't read the same post (or message or note) that cyberdude had made.

That's what I meant. Yeah, you were correct with your presumption. As for ridicule part, I agree. You don't to have use factual information to ridicule. If you're going to make a strong argument however, you do need facts.

And those other people who told this "ridicule" have very huge egos. It's a good thing you didn't believe it. Shows that you got stronger character.

Good luck to ya. :P

A CUSTOM BATTLE ZYZTEM, CUSTOM CHARSEtZ AND L33T 3D GRAFIX!

You threw something out similar to that.

If that didn't jog your memory (and I know that it will mostly likely did): You basically ridiculed cyberdude when he proposed making another version of Verge.

Although I too see no point in making another version of Verge (although a more stable version of VC WinVerge2 would be nice), it wasn't called for.

Don't mean to be insulting, I just think that you were wrong. You could've ignored it. Would've made you a bigger man in my eyes. *shrugs*

I still stand on my point. When it comes to our project there is no time for a lot of changes like that, however a VO project could easily update its GFX while the people test the game. However, we can't. It's easy to change the GFX, so if a coder codes VO and they haven't have to wait for the artists to spew out characters, I asure you the production will speed up. Simple as that.

It's true that VERGE can't really be called VERGE anymore, but that's just because the "V" isn't involved anymore. (Though I suppose it remains VERGE in honor of vecna's greatness) To remain blindly loyal to original, buggy, troublesome code just because it was in the first version is just plain silly. Think about it. In all the versions of VERGE from 2.0 to 2.6 (which comprises about 20 odd releases/buxfixes) no one was ever able to make VC work right. My game was constantly sidetracked by bugs in VC in version after version. I think VC has proven itself to be useless as counterpart to the VERGE engine. Python works. It's that simple. I may not like Python, (I have personal issues with its syntax) but what good is VC going to do me?

And it's not like this is the first time the scripting has been changed. V2.5 had a totally new syntax that required everyone to port code, even through it was still VC, and still not that good. (And has since been abandoned) This is just one last changeover for the good of all VERGE.

P.S.
I hear all this talk about a new WinVerge, but didn't Speed release a new version of 2.6 with all of 2.7's fixes, but still using VC?

Not all, by any means. I was just fiddling around with the source, and I ported v2.7's stable sound engine to v2.6

Turns out I broke other things in so doing, though. x_x

And I still have it. And remembering the old documentation, not much needed to be added to it. O

Oh well, oh well, oh incredibly well..

As for VC, I've gotten it to work just fine. You people are probably either a) trying too hard or b) being too fancy. VC was pretty effective and you had to be blunt with it. What am I saying? Don't you have to be blunt with all programming languages?

Bah, the coders can make blue and red squares with GIMP until the artists get their stuff done. :D

You read my mind, I just hope it wasn't sarcasm cause I think it's a good idea. However, it might be tough when they planned a paper-doll system. But working with Confluence I know that you could set standards for the GFX people to follow (with their cunning advice). Am I too used to working with intelligent and really great people (lightcharm) ? I think I am. :) Who knows, maybe Confluence Online WILL be a next project :D *** Is thinking Virtual Reality RPG dreams *** Providing cheap Virtual Reality kits to your computer and you could fend with monsters with your hand (ofcourse you'd easily prevent people from waving two-handed swords like featherdusters. it would all be in the speed of the motion) :D
