At least, that is, unless more people express interest in it. At this point, it's not worth my increasingly valuable time to organize and run this competition if there are only going to be four contestants on three teams...

But I've not lost hope. I'll leave the signup sheet there and will reopen the games if there are at least three teams enlisted in each category.

But be forewarned, if there aren't at least three entries from each event, I'm going to pull the plug. I don't have time for another situation like last year.

I apologize if I seem heavy-handed but I get annoyed when I put a lot of work into something and have all of that work be for shit.

So, sign up or don't... the choice is yours. But if you sign up, you are expected to turn in an entry, so don't sign up if you aren't going to. And I apologize to those who want to compete but are ultimately unable to due to the games' cancellation.

Anyway, I leave it to you, now...

Oh no. Your oh so valuable time has been wasted. I don't remember anyone asking you to do the contest. You're the one wasting everyone else's time by trying to manipulate them through guilt. Get a grip on reality.
I seem to remember you also having a choice whether or not to allow other GCEs into the contest. I more than likely would have joined the contest (if not for more reasons listed below) if you had. That was your mistake.
Finally, you decided to make the contest take up the whole of Christmas vacation, including Christmas itself. That simply is absurd.
All these mistakes have been made on your part, so stop blaming it on everyone else. And the next time you start to cry and claim that you are leaving the 'community,' please put your money where your mouth is.

I'll have to agree with Ear on some parts but not all. It is true that timing is bad and whining isn't making matters any better but. I do think its about time the community get off their asses and do something at least. Verge is slowly becoming fragile and bound for extintion. That can be blammed on the weakness of it.
"Prove it!" thats what you say?
well I have about 10 people I asked to make a game with 4 of which are local friends. They all said no because of the limited things verge can do. I know I'm getting off topic but i'll say it. The success of verge is heavily influenced by the makers of it. If the creaters and founders aren't into verge then why should the community be? I remember back in the day of updates on the page every day. hell maybe even twice a day...
My point is. Verge updates are underrated. Take advantage of the new technologies coming out. step out of the ice age. IE divx,flash,mp3. etc. Stop pretending 200mhz and 32mb ram is still hip. Thats just my thoughts

I said nothing about leaving the community you hypocritical jackass...

The point of the contest is to stimulate the VERGE community and I'm sick of Ika's supporters trying to cling to VERGE to publicize Ika... Ika is no longer a part of VERGE and I don't want it turning into a "this GCE is better than that GCE" sort of whining match...

Also, I'm not manipulating the community through guilt. I'm merely saying that if people want this contest to happen, that they need to join because I don't have time to waste on a crowd of no-shows like last year. However, I consider a successful contest to be time well spent which is why I'm bothering at all.

It's a VERGE contest. Maybe that doesn't compute with you. Let me explain.

There is a GCE. It's called "VERGE". Now. Things not called "VERGE" aren't VERGE. Let me know if I'm going too fast. Okay. Here's the kicker. VERGE contest only allow VERGE.

You've already claimed to leave the 'community' about four times already. So, you've gotten everyone's hopes up four times already. And how the hell am I being hypocritical?
You ARE being manipulative. Oh, we're wasting YOUR time. It's OUR duty to join the contest. It's OUR fault if VERGE dies. How is that not being manipulative? Your melodramatic whining is a burden to us all.

Which means you get half the contestants you normally would. Beggars can't be choosers. You can't whine that you don't have enough contestants when you already had the opportunity to get more.

OH MY GOD

Why not just copy and paste your original message... you've done nothing to further your point other than shout your misconceptions again at the top of your lungs.

I left the community once, when it went to shit with the python schizm. Except for that one time, I've not made any claims about leaving the fucking comunity.

And you're being hypocritical since you're as good as gone from VERGE. I don't see why you even hang around the boards, you don't use VERGE anymore.

Finally, you seem to be the only one burdened by my "melodramatic whining" as you call it. I call it exasperation and a strong desire not to head another flop.

I can see that being straight-foward is a concept you are rather unable to grasp, since you seek so so hard to find some sort of manipulative meaning in my words... hard enough that when you can't actually find anything real, you make it up just to try and bash me.
Anyway, reply with whatever ficticious bullshit you want to pull out of your lame little ass, I wash my hands of it all...

do it to someone who wouldn't reply with the same thing I'm apparently retorting. You have no business here. Be gone.

Well, that's an example of the intelligence this debate has degraded into. But, due to that fact that I "suck at this," I better stop before the immature name-calling and swearing gets to an intolerable level.

Children, children. I grow tired of this. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I find it fairly annoying to see messages with brilliant titles like "um... fuck you". It's an eyesore, and it really turns people off to the idea of using boards where people merely yell and scream at each other when, in reality, the importance of their argument is small, at best. I'm not asking you two to just bury the hatchet, but if you insist on wasting your time fighting, do it via email . Remember, this is supposed to be a COMMUNITY, not a boxing ring.
