Don't expect to get an entire team right away. Perhaps it's best if you start with it alone and put up a "Help Wanted"ad somewhere on your homepage or your message board signature. That may just do the trick, though you don't have to expect an entire team in two weeks...

Well, first off I'm surprised someone hasn't already been here telling you about how everyone is busy with their own projects and how it's best just to learn how to do everything on your own, or to atleast try it.

Beyond that, I know where you're coming from. I showed up here about 2 years ago or so and was not inspired by the greeting that I received. So basically I decided to create a sort of Verge study-group and invited any one interested to join, newbie or experienced alike. Anyway, it was interesting how most of the comunity reacted to me but I held my composure and diginity and eventually found some takers, as well as was offered more than a few jobs by other dev teams who were intreagued by my maturity.

Well, as I said, I did end up with a dev team eventually. Mostly coders, including myself, and one or two people who had some talent for creating characters. A bit later we ran into a composer and more or less we have a good and well rounded team together.

Still, it's taken time to get where we are, which is little further than where we started. I mean, we've released nothing and have yet to even complete one map, but we've grown as individuals.

Another of our team is now doing well at creating characters himself, and my own tile art abilities are beginning to flourish, and I really used to suck when I first started.

Basically just stick to it and don't demand anything from other people. It's bad manners and invites in all sorts of problems.

Don't worry though, if you really work at it I'm sure you'll succeed. :)

From one "newbie" to another...

...join a team lacking everything but A char/sprite maker. I'm sure they're about. I remember someone named silver cat needing one, but I'm not sure if they have one yet. Other than that, though, one pops up about 1nce a month.

I wanted a longer signature, but It cuts them off when they get about six lines long. I was going to sign w/the entirity of A Witch Trial at Mount Holly, by Ben Franklin (only 7Paragraphs) but It cut my lasst expiriment off earlier, and it was even shorte

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
