Hi all,

Is anyone else using pre-rendered sprites in their games? While I couldn't get Cloud to write me a program that takes a series of images and makes a .chr file ('I'm to lazy to sort the file names'), he did write me one that takes a processed .flc file and turns it into a pcx ready for use with chrmak.exe

This was actually nicer, because now I can load up the entire series of images in Animator Pro and do all my palette stuff, timing, etc, and then just export the whole thing in one group.

Question is this: anybody interested in this program? If they are I'll write a readme for it and submit it.

Now a burning question for Vecna: will you continue to code Verge2/DOS after the advent of WinV2? It'd be nice for some people (hint myself) who don't have access to the latest hardware (our project's getting built and rendered on my P100 with jwin95).

I'm trying to make my game work on a 486 with 12MB of RAM.

dos v2 hasn't been worked on practically since it's official release and it probably never will again, afaik.

sadly, grenideer is right. I have no intention of "re-porting" winv2 back to DOS, and since I run win2k exclusively I'd have no real way to develop it. VERGE needs to move forwards, not back. Im genuinely sorry for people with really slow comps, buttt, you can buy a 1ghz system for like $50 these days, and as penny arcade says, 256mb in a box of trix! and I threw it away! perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but not too much. ^_~

I suppose I can never argue with Penny Arcade. ^^; Yeah, I need to upgrade, but an apartment is higher on the list of priorities. *Sigh* I hate windows...
