I have gone through at least four tutorials and have read multiple message boards with no solution. My problem is that VCC.exe won't start. I double-click it, it pops up for a 1/2 a second, and dissappears, without compiling. I've done that "vcc.exe all" thing in the Command line of the programs tab of the properties thing and nothing happens. I've created the system.vc and done all of the other steps, but it won't compile and create system.xvc or .vcs or .idx or whatever I need for verge.exe to work properly. If this is not how one goes about creating the proper file, then how? If it's any help, I'm running Windows XP Home as my OS, and have winv2_beta25 version, as well as VergeC 2.0. Both have the same problem. Please help.

I used XP too, and had the same problem. You see, VCC is basically a DOS program, and XP executes the program, then closes it for you. So basically you don't get to see the output. Right click on vcc.exe and then set the "close on exit" option to false, on its property pages. Now when you run it you will see the compilation output, which will tell if there is an error with your VC code or not, or if it compiled correctly.

It is not wrong to not understand, for we are all ignorant, but neither is understanding pointless.

Now it comes up, but now it says No Imput Files in the screen. What does this mean?

Open a command prompt by clicking
start - run
and type command and hit ok
Go to the directory with vcc and all the other verge stuff in. I'm assuming you know enough about dos to do that... If not,

Then, in the right directory, type
vcc all
hit enter.
Boom.

Sorry 'bout all the questions, but tis is confusing. Now it says, CHR::CHR(), could not open vecna.chr. I tried running CHRMAK.exe, with no evail. No tutorials deal with this, at least, none of the three I've read. How do I create this file?

didn't your copy of chrmak come with a sample file, usually called vecna.chr? if it didn't, download the original DOS V2 utils in the v2 engine files sections. It's got it. Otherwise, either supply chrmak with a mak file to create a chr with, or download a chr from the vergesource and use that instead.
