hi all. just wondering what happened to verge online. last news post on the site was 10/25/99. Is it still being developed?

also, i've been tossing around the idea of making a console-style multiplayer game (non-verge) for a while...ultima online meets ff3 or something. i work as a developer and it feels like forever since i actually coded something fun. if any of you are interested (especially developers/artists) let me know!

I dunno about VO, but v2.7 is going eventually going to support netplay, so if you got to coding, I guess you could hack out a UO meets FF3 (Presume you mean 6? Or 3 with the Job System?) engine.

Praetor

Here's the brief history:

About a month into the year 2000, I joined up with the VergeMUD crew and stole it. I took over as head coder simply because I was the only one who had coded anything on a MUD before :P

Anyway, VergeMUD progressed through a few different crews under my control, and never really got anywhere.

Around October of 2000, I got sick of nothing ever happening, and I also got pissed about the death, rebirth, death, rebirth and final death of VergeOnline. So, I decided to scrap VergeMUD and start from scratch, making a GMMORPG (that's Graphical Mass-Multiplayer Online RPG, to you few uneducated souls).

It's been in production ever since (with the required couple of start-overs) I have since scrapped the name and the current project is being made in a surprisingly different way than any of the previous attemps have been, so I suspect that this time it will actully get playable.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
