Seeing how the boards have been dead lately, I decided why not have a poll to get people talking and here it is: What are you looking forward to most, Verge Online or Verge 3?

I personally have been waiting for Verge online since I first joined the message boards, but Verge 3 sounds more likely, seeing as they wont need a server, or any of that junk to keep it up and running.

Is there anyway to change the email address conected to my name? I lost the silo1.com web space, so I no longer have that email adress. Email me at pretty_bondage_boy@yahoo.com, Don't poke fun, I've had the address for 3 years, and I know where you live

I won't have much time to fiddle with V3 anyway (though it's sounding very tempting as of late)... not to mention I actually put some money into VO, so I'd like to see it go somewhere ;)
Of course, imagining a V3 engine with C# offers some interesting possibilities that even border VO-esque. Not a lot of us have the funds to run a server for our own games, but who's up for peer-to-peer VERGE gaming? I sure as hell am.

v3 will probably be pretty cool, especially since it's finally moved away from VC, but, the fact is, there won't be nearly as many games for it if people running win9x/ME cannot develop games for it. (and people running win95 won't even be able to play them)

So I vote for VO instead. :D

Well, as much as I love how V3 is coming along, I would say Verge Online. I used to be a heavy Graal player, and now I'm looking for a new online game to fill that empty spot :) I liked some of the early graphics and stuff from the old Verge Online site, so, i'm really hope VO doesn't just fade away and would like to see what kind of progress is being made with it.

Ok I posted this on the vergesource board but I'll reiterate: Though I have not 100% confirmed this, my current understanding (zero is asleep, and this whole thing is his fault) is that win9x/ME users WILL be able to develop v3 games. Being that v3 compiles at startup by default anyway... there is no additional requirement to develop v3 game than to make them. The 20 meg runtime is all that's needed in both cases. The C# compiler is redistributable and is built into v3, you do NOT have to download the 137meg ".net sdk" from microsoft to make v3 games, folks.

I'll get a verification on this tommorow. If it turns out the 137meg download is in fact needed then I will promptly beat zero to death, cancel v3, tear down verge-rpg and do nothing but play Jumpgate for the rest of my days. ... mmmmm jumpgate

well from the looks of things you could make online games with v3... also I havent been able to develop for verge in a while and I want to again but unfortunatly I dont trust my hard work to most of the highcolor engines right now and I'm not about to wait hours of my time to get pissed verge cant use doubles etc... and because right now I have linux because of some... tragedys with my harddrive... BUT ENOUGH RANTING! I'd take V3!

Maybe it's just me, but online games just aren't my cup of tea. Perhaps it was all those years when all I had was a sickly dial-up that couldn't seem to get above 28.8. . . man, I hated that. As such, I never got my hopes up about online games. Everquest shmeverquest, Tribes can kiss my. . . something. Give me good ol' Verge 3 anyday.

VO. Well, V3 will be good and all. But no one will use it. Trust me I'm expecting a bargain bin of tech demos and nary a developer producing something approaching completion, save for Zara. A tenth of the time you are all working on V3 could have been spent finetuning WinV2.

Besides I need a place where I can run about, curse college students, have preteens steal my items, and nerf someone who insulted my VO g/f with some inane
bug.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
