Is it posible to create a batle system were the characters runs toward the enemy and hit them.....
or is it posible...to play an avi file....or any kind of animation like during a magic power transition escene (like final f 8, forget about animations...I'm a master on that)?
can I add avi files....in the same transition...like I'm seeing the story typically .....but I had a video without going out from the game or without seeing any control...???
Can I develop my characters using prerendered images....I'm good working with anime,...so I draw them..I Paint them ....and then I add them without loosing quality????
Can I use the 640*480 res....without seeing the game crash out...(I have downloaded many games and I have tried to change their res...and they look bad)???
can I use the mouse for menu chossing ( like in DIABLO 2)not using the pad ??
can I protect my code from any other programer....( If you pack it, they depacked it and they can steal all your work), there is another COMPLETE SECURE WAY??
that's all

1. It's definitely possible to make a battle system where a character attacks an enemy by running up to them.

2. Playing an AVI is not yet possible, but playing a FLiC is. (tSB is considering implementing AVI support into v2.6

3. Since v2k and up is capable of hicolor, you won't lose much quality converting images.

4. Uh. If you can't use 640x480, you should download Sci-Tech Display Doctor from http://www.scitechsoft.com/ OR, you can wait till tSB releases v2.6. ;)

5. Yes, you can use the mouse in v2 without much work.

6. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make your game 'completely secure.' Anything can be stolen. However, I highly doubt anyone would steal something from you. ;) PACK.EXE can pack your files so they are 'unextractable' by UNPACK.EXE. However, since the dev-team released the source for PACK and UNPACK, anyone can make UNPACK so that it will unpack any file. (All you'd need to do is delete an if statement and recompile.) So, even if you packed your game, they could still steal your work. If you don't want people looking at your source code, you can delete it from your game. However, don't expect anyone to ever help you with coding if you won't return the same kindness to the rest of the community. It is my feeling that if you are to use someone's scripts in your game, not only should you credit them, you should also return the favor by keeping your game open source. Anyway, protecting your tiles and CHR files is harder... and protecting MODs is even harder since you can't store them inside a pack file. Anyway, not only is securing your game's source files adequately is impossible, it is also a wasted effort since no one would steal them. If some one does, EVERYONE will know.

Actually, to set the record straight, AVI support will NOT be included in Verge for the simple fact that it's not very portable.

In fact, I wrote (successfully), and offered to install, code to play AVI files, but tSB rejected the option due to it's non-portability...

AVI support may be written in at some point far down the road, but any games using it will most likely not be playable in DOS, Linux, BeOS or any other non-windows ports, and as such it would be excluding the non-windows users...not fair IMHO, which is why I agreed with tSB on this one...

I didn't mean not to share my code..???

people can steal my artwork which is the most valuable thing here....no one can do my kind of artwork,...and excuse but all the games that I have seen don't have good artwork, in spite of the story plot and the coding......the artwork socks......just larswood....can compete with my art,,,,,,

of course that I will put my code free....because all the code will be almost the same...but my artwork is more important..

We must be with the technology, because some others are still in the stone age all the comunity will miss the use of media formats....the other users must change their systems....that is the deal...that way we will...miss al the media technology advantages....

or put a disable media versions of those games who use video files...

Okay, I'm going to call you on it...

Put up or shut up...

Show us a spectacular example of YOUR style of artwork that you intend to provide in your game (It has to be worth stealing, mind you, even though everyone would know EXACTLY where it was taken from)

Arogance is a terrible thing...especially while it waits to be backed by evidence of aptitude...

If you ever intend to be taken seriously, then show me (and the whole community while you're at it) why you should be.

(I appologize for the spelling errors)

It looks to me like you just said "Windows is the best, use it".

I'm no expert on the subject, but there are a lot of other OS's out there, and some are damn swank. Windows can't touch Linux's stability, for instance.

It'd be a crime to deprive people of such quality (heh) VERGE games on the sole basis that they aren't willing to hand over $200 for an OS. (I'm not paying for another MS OS unless I absolutely have to)

As for worrying about people stealing your art, there isn't a thing you can do. Even if VERGE didn't have a screenshot function, Windows does. Ripping graphics is easy, and it will always be easy. All you can do is trust the character of the community. (when people steal credit, it's usually made pretty obvious via the boards ~_^)

There are other movie formats. AVI is owned by MS, and only plays on Windows, AFAIK. Moreover, you've got to deal codecs and all that messy crap. VERGE will have FMV, just not AVI.

Not to be rude, but...

Just who in the hell are you to be telling the users that they have to switch systems to use Verge...

You are NOT the messiah, here to bring VERGE out of YOUR so-called "stone age" into YOUR ideal age...

If you want AVI support and you want to exclude users, then go ahead and add it in your damn self...

I feel you seriously lack respect for those who are providing and those who are using the VERGE engine...

When you are able to write your own engine which meets or exceeds the capabilities of VERGE, you can code in whatever you damn well feel like and keep it restricted to whatever fucking OS you want to...

Those of us working to better the Engine itself are a little bit more considerate of those running on, or preferring, Linux, DOS or BeOS...

You'll have to excuse my harshness, but I think you're in store for a rude awakening...so I chose to provide part of it myself...

(okay, okay...so I lied about the nudity... ^_^)

All the games that I have seen use the same kind of art???
and you have links from art taken from others games....and don't tell me that way....I don't need to give you examples.....It's my problem not yours....if you want to help other people , and you don't do it because the way of protecting their art I understand...but not be that conflictive........

The perfect solution!

Make a text game! Or use some PUBLIC DOMAIN art! (which is available in abundance around here)

Then nobody will be able to see your art! (and therefore steal it!)

It was an advice.......
not the main rule system of your organization...
you guys here began crazy just for nothing-...--
if you don't want to actualize the system I understand....but you must hear other's opinions if not it is OK.....

The software is still usable when the users are still happy with the work of this system....
Don't get mad of one advice.---

-More swearing that you'd hear in a typical Chicago inner-city gang member's meeting.

(sorry for the language, in advance)

Then Shut The Fuck Up!

What is obvious to me is that you are lame to a degree that not even JesusFreak was able to achieve (and he was pretty high on the lame-scale)...

You obviously either do not have enough talent to create demonstrational art, or you are just some lame asshole who likes to sit around scratching his balls and pretending he's l33t.

You obviously aren't THAT elite, and people won't just take your word for it... The least you should be able to do would be to back your own fucking words...

Now...it's not my intention to start a flamewar...and I'm sorry if that is what this sparks... However, I do feel the need to point out to you that you are not making any friends by making claims...if anything, you're digging yourself deeper...

Even the simple process of producing a sample of your work is beyond you...

It is obvious to me that you will lead a very lonely life in the VERGE community until you can put forth some proof that you shouldn't be shot on sight...

Now, you might be asking, where do I get off saying this kind of stuff?

Well, first of all I never claimed to be anything I wasn't willing to prove to be true. I don't admit to being an excellent coder, but I do admit to being a rather competant and innovative one. However, I didn't even claim THAT much until after I'd released several scripts to give people proof that I did know what the fuck I was doing...

People don't give a fuck about claims...what the care about is what you use to back them up. The best artists, coders, mappists, trackers, writers and PEOPLE are the most modest I know. They don't even admit that they're great, as much as their work shows it.

Learn some fucking humility or be willing to back your words up.

So far, you've done neither...
