You know... the one thing that I love more than anything about America is it's Right to Free Speech. Being that I live in America and the server resides in America, I don't feel at all wrong or sorry about what I said since it's my right and priviledge to speak my mind and say what I've got to say.
I also respect all of your rights to do the same, and while I don't agree with your opinions, I respect that they are being made
You have all raised good points and proven that the few lame factoids that I've gathered here to help me to release my blatant anger and to attempt to display my wants...
It failed as I had figured it would, but it has shown all of you to be what you really are... intolerant of anyone with different views as you've always been... I agree whole-heartedly with tat for taking away tVS and I shall do as he did...except this time, I'm going to...
vanish without a trace...

You sound as though you harbor a great degree of bitterness toward this community. Is it because of intolerance? I hope not, because there's not much of it present. Nobody's coming out and saying you're *wrong* but rather defending the GCE they've been with for as long as three years. I don't think anyone wants to see the name Verge vanish like you and tat, even though they agree with the forward evolution of the engine.
However, here's the main reason for my post:
Tat seems extremely bitter toward the community, as do you, and it almost seems like he killed TVS as a punishment for something. But what? I feel like I've just showed up on an accident scene five minutes after the accident... I have no clue why everything's a mess, but there's no doubting that there's a problem.
Can anyone fill me in on what's been going on behind the scenes for the last few weeks? There's too many things going on for this to be a coincidence...
That is all.

P.S. Praetor, if you read this, it proves that you, like us, really *don't* want to lose Verge. Don't be bitter. Like you said, it's evolution.

You're pretty dead-on with what I was thinking. Judging from the few mishaps I've witnessed,
some people are very intolerant and insistent on
mouthing thier opinions, no matter how right
or wrong they are.
This is probably why I avoided dealing with the "conformity community" in the first place.
I didn't want to be bashed by a few million
people every time I voiced something that
differed from the accepted opinion.

The First Amendment states that people have the right to speak freely without government interference, genius.
We are in no way obligated to put up with your constant and annoying whining.

Yes, the site going down was a punishment of sorts. Why? First read tat's message on www.vergesource.com. Then, check out... crap, somebody took a screenshot of what happened, but I can't remember who... could whoever took it post the link?

Okay, that post was rash. I saw it as him using Free Speech as a crutch to justify acting so immature both on IRC and tVS, rather than his opinions on this board.

I bet you'll even come back to read this board again.
Anyways, I do see your point in being protected under Freedom of Speech. But that doesn't mean you can annoy the hell out of everyone like tSB who's trying to better the Verge engine. Even though Free Speech is an inalienable right of all Americans, everyone's still got a reputation to uphold. So do you wanna be remembered as a great coder who contributed greatly to the community, or the stubborn asshole that won't accept TRUE progress? It's all up to you...

Give me any example of this?
All replies given to Praetor only seemed "intolerant" when he used blatantly wrong facts to support his argument. I, for example, went out of my way to be mature about it and point out that he had good points but some were blatantly wrong. The fact that, he himself, knew some of it was blatanty wrong made some of the other people [seem] "intolerant" to lies. The community is very tolerant to views different than their own, as long as it's GOOD for the community and/or it's TRUTHFUL to the state of VERGE. Just go into IRC some time and see how many ideas for VERGE 2.7 I yell at tSB and how many he accepts.

I do happen to go on IRC and just gotten into the habit of idling in #vchelp, so chill..
As for examples, sorry that I can't give you any and I am not going to exaggerate the situation by improvising them. It's a pity that I haven't started to log any of the verge-related channels that I just recently started to frequent, but if I had and could post what I've seen, you'd be surprised at how narrow-minded some individuals can be when proving thier point.

It was Khross who took the snapshot and he posted the shot on his webpage. I think the URL was hegomy.cjb.net or something like that.

Such views of intolerance we have here in America. If one states that one disagrees with the opinion of another and why that's considered being intolerant. But yet, I see intolerance on your end too Prae. I think that claiming that the python engine "is not VERGE" qualifies as intolerance. I guess you won't read this but I'll post it anyway.

what i love about america? the right to free speech."
wow, you americans always alienate yourselves from others. the right to free speech isn't a priviledge of americans, it is a priviledge in all civilized countries.
also a hint, if you do like they do in the movies (aka "you can't do this!! i'm an american citizen!") i'll just tell you it doesn't matter. american citizens are also humans.
that was just to contribute to deflate the immense ego america often shows. while a lot of americans are really great and groovy people. i mean, there are many swedish assholes, maybe i'm one of them. :)
but defending yourself with "it is my right to free speech" don't get it mixed with the unwritten law "it is my right to be a jerk" since the right to free speech has nothing to do with getting to flame others on boards, it entitles you to say what you want in newspapers, tv, radio - if it is untrue, then you have no right to free speech. ;)
anyway. regards,
zaril.
