Devon mentioned this on the help board, and I posted a response a long while ago to find this, but I haven't had any luck, and no documents mentions it, but somehow this is supposed to exist to make use of highcolor VSP's? If this is true, someone PLEASE point me to where this is found.

Many thanks,

I don't recall any dos maped being able to edit hicolor vsps. WinMaped, however, does.

I could be wrong though. Serves me for still using lowcolor vsps ;)

I saw what you are looking for here:

http://verge-rpg.com/~tsb/

I didn't download it so I'm not entirely sure if that's the one. It is high color but I don't know if it's DOS for sure (but it looks like it is).

I just got Maped 2+i, and despite that no one seems to know about this, and Speed Bump has never responded to my high color questions or emails with it, this little file is like a godsent to hi-color people! I'm definitely going to put all these hi color things on my website when I get it up, because there isn't any documentation or FAQ that any newbie would ever be able to find these things without posting for days.

Maped 2+i supports the BMP2VSP command, and even lets you import files from a BMP file directly provided that it's buffered properly like all potential VSP files should be. Luckily, anyone who's tried editing in hi color the same that I had been before finding this version of Maped, in which you try loading any palette restricted to 256 colors into a Maped 2 or higher, won't have to mess with their map at all to be compatible. My only question is, why is this file not packed in with Verge 2+j or Verge 2+i? There's no other way that I've found to get hi color maps except using this version of Maped, so for anyone in my same dilemma, our prayers are now answered. =) Hopefully all this hassle will be gone with V2.7.

Well, maped 2+i sucks. ;) It's got no copy/paste support, doesn't save 8 bit VSPs worth jack, and it was coded in my C days, so the code isn't pretty. ^_~

The importer's kinda buggy too, and when I finally got my head around win32 coding, I pretty much dropped it in favour of a windows-based editor that edits both.

The source code's up, though, if anyone wants to hack it up.

I figure if it does support hicolor, then it's currently the only mapeditor to do that till your maped is complete for windows. I only tried version .99999 or whatever ;p, but the interface will take some getting used to, whereas Maped 2+i is pretty close to the maped 2 version, minus the nicer features of playing music and hearing your assigned music to the map, to test your links. All little things, but it's the small features in life that make Verge so cool. Good luck with the next Verge Speed, the world is watching, and eagerly waiting. ^_^

Hey, I'm sorry I didn't reply. I haven't visited the site in like two weeks. I'm glad you found it though.
