Does anyone know of a way to convert an xm that crashes verge to a more friendly mod or s3m format? This needs to be compatible with the DOS version of verge also so no other sound formats will work. If there's a way to clean up this xm so it's compatible, I'd appreciate the help.
I really want to use a specific song for the game ending. I've kinda been putting it off until now, but now I need it :).

Why is DOS compatibility so important? O_o
If anybody is *still* using a PC lacking win95, then it's pretty safe to say that they're a bit too far behind the curve to worry about. (win95 is *8* years old now)

i know, it's old too. i'll release Diver Down in DOS v2 first and then port it to windows. It's just the only way I see it happening.
BTW, I figured out ModPlug tracker could do what I want. I thought I tried it before, but now I know how to do it.

keep in mind that modplug tracker is a tracker emulator without a native file format. i've had bad luck with files - created with said program - becoming corrupted. i don't know, maybe it's just me :)

You don't have to convert it to a diff. format. What you do need to do is open the offending .xm file in FastTracker, and re-save it. This should solve the crash problem. It's simply a problem with old MikMod for DOS not liking .xm files that don't follow the .xm standard EXACTLY.
