I'm wanting to see what kind of coding Zeux World uses to make side-scrollers....but when i try to UNPACK the .VRG file it just basically says that all the files are un-unpackable and crashes about 3/4 way thru maybe.....does anybody have the unpacked version of the Zeux World VRG file? if so, could you tell me how to acquire it? thank a lot ^_^

The zeux code is quite coveted I believe or something or the other. Grab zara's email from his site (zara.verge-rpg.com) and ask him very nicely.

Did...he told me to use the 4Four engine since he said it was one step further than the Zeux engine.....he was quite kind about it...but i personally didn't really like the 4Four engine......the Zeux World engine has parallax and stuff....ah well....i just dont know how the VRG couldn't work with the UNPACK proggie yet it could work with the game

Parallax isn't a part of the zeux engine. It's built into v2. Edit any layer's properties in maped.

If an author declares his files unpackable when he packages them, Unpack won't extract them. It's a way of protecting copyrighted material, though I imagine if you were a master hacker you could still break it.

Since they released the source to everything, I've heard it only takes a few line modifications in the source to do it. ~_^

Blah.

that's correct, however, the distribution .VRG file doesn't have the VC source to zeux in it.

I might add that working towards beating zeux with a very high percentage might be a step in the right direction. ;) (which, christ, should be easy enough using the newest winv2)

Also uhhh!! The 4four engine's method of scrolling is just a small modification to the main sidescroller code. Parallax scrolling is a function of the verge engine and 4four's code is certainly capable of doing it.

it's impossible to run your games without code, so I'm guessing he just left the source out of .VRG and put in the precompiled bytecode instead, right?

It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
