First of all, I have to commend the entire Dev Team for V2. It is without any doubt the most powerful and flexible GCE I've ever come across. Many kudos to everyone who helped make it possible.

But there is one problem I'm having that I just can't figure out.
When I assign a script number to Zone 0, it doesn't activate. And yes, I did remember to set the Chance to 256. When I assign the same script number to a different zone, it works.

My zone info box for Zone 0 contains the following.
Script: 1
Chance: 256

My only guess is that you have to step into a zone for it to activate, since you most likely start in zone 0, it may not activate. I'm not entirely sure though.

TheGerf, not just any gerf.

I don't think that's it. I should have mentioned this above, but I actually can put down a big area of zone 1, and it will still call my event even if I walk from one of those squares to another. And if I step out of that region into a zone 0 tile, my event is not called.

Yes, this means I technically could get around my problem by applying zone 1 everywhere in the entire map, but that has some unpleasant side effects. Specifically, when I switch to the zone layer in MapEd, the entire screen is covered. That makes it really hard to find the one or two places where I have a different zone. Not to mention the fact that it would take more time to apply zone 1 to everything than to just leave it as zone 0.

Thanks again.

Zone 0 is the default zone and is normally linked to event 0 the autoexec event. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it was designed that way, and may not work with anyother script (regardless of what maped tells you it's linked to). Zone 0's primary purpose is to be a default zone for stuff that isn't part of another zone, easiest way to do accomplish your purpose is move your script up to the first (and autoexecutin) script. Hope that helps.

Zone 0 is not linked to the autoexec of the map. In verge1, you could set a script to zone 0 as you are saying. For some reason when they made v2, they disabled that feature. In other words, you can't assign any script to zone 0. You need to do it the long way and assign them all manually.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the values of the chance field in MapEd range from 0-255, NOT 256.

Thanks, its at least nice to know. Now that you mention it, I don't know why I didn't realize earlier that the games I had seen do this were all V1.

And I had noticed that 255 works just as well for the chance field, but because MapEd2.html says to use 256 I was going with that. I can't tell any difference between the two.

Thanks again.
