There's an easy way to find out!

I think it should ideally do nothing at all and issue a warning to v3.log

Or alternately there should be another logfile specifically for system.err type errors, as opposed to the easily overpopulated and overwhelmed v3.log

Or how about a CONSOLE?!???

I personally prefer the 'the engine creates a null map at startup within which nothing exists' method, myself.
