Wow, thanks. That is might handy. You and Interference officially drove me mad with all those updates and patches. And your advice is very wise. I might not have uploaded a stupid version of Duskbane if I didn't make half the game in the last 5 hours!

I finished Duskbane, which is very amazing. The graphics are awesome, and the music is really good, especially through headphones.

Which, by the way, that opening sequence shocked the heck out of me.

Also, I started Eine Verschmutzung, and I would love to know what that actually means in German...assuming its German.

I was doing pretty good, level 7, second dungeon, really getting the hang of that BS...but...whenever I saved more than three times at one gaming session, V3 crashed. I restarted, and kept picking up. Well, one time, it crashed, and it deleted my data file. Shame.

Something about too many file pointers in VC. Does the code forget to close them?

SDHawk

Arrrgh! Yeah, I completley forgot to have it close the file after reading/writing. Managed to never notice it because I didn't save that often... patch is up that should fix it, very sorry it deleted your data.

As for the translation... I forget the exact translation, but Sal told me whilst we were making it that it was something along the lines of "big mess", but closer to pollution. (Because in the final days of work it felt like a big mess. And because we couldn't think of any names....) And yes, it's German.

Ah! That's a very...unique name.

Right now, I've completed the milk demo, which presented more challenge than I was expecting...but something felt good about beating that final boss. A lack of different CHRs...but still...good fun. BTW, I lost again the demon final boss twice. Once, the game froze...until I closed my laptop, then reopened it. The second time it just went back to the boot screen, which is what I assume it should do. Is there a potential timing error that locks it in a loop at the end of the battle?

Parallel 7 seems the most polished. I love the menus and titlescreen. However, I'm not that skilled at the battle system...after losing HP with the drunk (down to 7 HP), those rats took me down at the staff deck map. I've got to try that again.

Phobos Project...The map design is good, the character design is unique! Have I seen a style somewhere like that before?...The menu system is very impressive and polished. It's amazing that a single person can do so much work, and even character portraits. You're doing a great job!

Right now, I need to go back and try to reach the final EV battle. Er...and sleep. I could also go for some sweet iced tea, but as we've just come back from a weekend trip, there's none made :(

Awesome music, everbody. It sounds especially good through headphones.

Hmm. From the description, it doesn't sound like an RPG to me. SURPRISE!

I'm downloading now. Let's hope I have much fun.

Omni, you are a dedicated VERGEer! I couldn't even get through the games I worked on. But that's because I worked on the hardest ones :( I'm glad you liked the music, headphones definately help, especially with the scary sequence in Duskbane (I scripted it and it still freaked me out with headphones on!). For EV and P7, though, I really did a terrible job and I didn't get to do all the music for Interference, so Gayo wins. I did 8 of songs the day before the deadline, the scary and creepy music for Duskbane were about 15 and 20 minute jobs, respectively. I'll definately be redoing the music for that one, and if SDHawk or Interference plan on expanding on their projects I will have to redo that music too.

Which brings up an excellent question, who plans on doing any more to their HoV besides Kildorf?

I'm trying to make up for the RPGs I haven't completed.

Edit: I also played Geas and Zara's demo. Geas has very nice art...how long did it take to do all that? It seemed like you just didn't have enough time to color the character portraits, but those looked very impressive regardless. However, there were one or two bugs...namely, I would get locked in the shop menu and ESC wouldn't work, and then I couldn't get out of shop once I walked in because I couldn't find the exit event :( Other than that, the battle system seems well done, and you've got a lot of maps, definately. The dialogue also has a certain charm to it--I like that shadowy figure in the forest.

Zara's demo intrigued me, so I took a look at it, and...well, I'm not particularly skilled at the battle system, but I decided to take a look at the code. Hmm. Scary code. I do wonder what that section of ray.vc commented "Removes fishbowl effect" does. I assume the fishbowl effect is some raycast imperfection caused by using integer math, because I've heard about it in another raycast demo I saw...but commenting out the four lines of code disables the entire engine and nothing is drawn. Interesting.

I do, of course. Phobos Project is like the 5th or 6th restart of Vortex, and since I started that thing way back in the days of V1+, I sure ain't quitting now. ;-)

I've finished playing all of the entries now. I'm really impressed with a lot of the work that has been done. I kinda wish there had been a few more entries, but ah well...

Hey great, Phobos project was really sexy. Your art style is incredibly clean and nice. I also wish there were more entries, but I know how it is with real and stuff. And the entries we did get were pretty damn rocking, so I'm happy. Hope to see more of Vortex/Phobos Project soon!

Omni, Zara's thing was nice, but doesn't follow any of the rules so I doubt it will even be judged. But that is some slick code, I'll say!

Interesting: while stood on a platform filled with architecture reminiscent of Quake II, looking out over a landscape that looks like something out of "Logan's Run" I was rudely assaulted by a girl who looked like she was wearing Sonic The Hedgehog as a hairpiece and listening to an iPod. And her stomach tattoo: "Fuck Me." Either an ironic, post-feminist statement, or Falthorn doing funny things with his art again...

Of course, I've been playing Zara's entry, "Void."

And I too plan on finishing the entry Zip and I submitted. Just not RIGHT now: I'll be tired for at least a week after that! HOVs can be so DRAINING. As I submitted P7 the sun rose, I looked out of the window and nearly fell over. Then I went to bed. Didn't get up again until half way through the afternoon. Yikes.

I plan on making milk less ugly, and less sucky.

I'll probably fail on the less ugly part, but oh well

Ness: just so long as everyone stops looking like Darin, I'll be a very happy gamer sat with an updated copy of Milk. =-)

Well...I had chickens and cows too... :p

Heh, the Darin clones were pretty funny, but atleast the game has a good storyline.
