I've seen people asking for a way to do idle animations and 8-directional movements since the days of v2. You can get my little demo Here.
It's not much but an arrow cause I couldent find a 8-directional sprite on the google image search if my life depended on it.

Anyway, comments? Questions?

Certainly demonstrates what you *can* do with HookEntityRender(), but I have two points.
- The chr format still needs updating.
- This isn't a general lib that could be used by other people without changes. The code assumes a lot of stuff about the graphic and layout of the chr, rather than being generalised.

The fact that it can be kludged via HookEntityRender does not mean that it would not be really, really nice to have internally.

yeah I agree, internal implementation would be nice. Just thought I would try to demonstrate how it can be done otherwise.

I was actually very surprised when I learned it (idle frames specifically, but diagonals, too) wasn't internal. It seemed so obvious that it would be, considering how the MAK files work - plopping a movescript in there seemed a very logical thing to do.
Anyway, yeah - not a huge priority on my list, as it can be worked around, but it would be very nice eventually.

Ben McGraw's lovingly crafted this website from scratch for years.
It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
