It's been a bit quiet on the boards lately. Is everyone working away at VERGE projects? I'm working hard to get a tech demo out for my work-in-progress RPG (well, that and wrapping up playing KOTOR 2..) and was just wondering what everyone else is up to. Feel free to post screenshots, general information or blatant bragging. Here's some of my own:

Project Name: 'Perceptions'
Genre: Mouse-based sci-fi RPG
General Info: I've spent absolutely ages implement all sorts of technical funkiness. Some sucessful, some not so. My game is currently in the early stages of actual map-making, tile artistry and whatnot. A technical demonstation is on the way..

I'm in school, and...haven't really done anything. Sigh.

I thought you'd say that! I've been working on 'Perceptions' since long before I did P7 so I considered it the first thing I should be working on. It used to be in 320x240 but somewhere along the way things went a little perculiar. I'm still working on P7 occasionally, but you'll have to be patient! Once my tech demo is out I may turn my full attention back to P7.

Ness

I'm still working on Time Keepers, but progress has been impeded by World of Warcraft. Damn game! *shakes fist*

I'm working on my game, Fatal Dream: Genocide.
It's in its technical crap phase.
Unfortunately, like Ness, I got absorbed in a game. Not WoW though. By the way, how do you post pics?

To post pics easily I've got a Photobucket.com account. They're a website that gives people free space to upload images to. Get yourself an account (doesn't take more than a couple of minutes), upload some screenshots and the listings of your images includes the relevant HTML code you can copy/paste into your posts to show 'em.

Ok, well in that case, I'll show you all a screenshot for the menu.

It has a customizable text color, bg color, a rotating and growing/shrinking cursor, and an animated sprite blit thingy instead of a portrait. It's 640x480 resolution.
Urm, yeah. I would rather not show you guys the test map...

lol, active verge projects.

....

Interference! That guy whose silhouette you have in the bodymap is awfully short. I imagine his feet would begin about where they end.

I am being unproductive while waiting for Grue to do something. So I have an excuse. Yell at Grue!

Hrm. I may make him taller, then.

CrazyAznGamer: Nice work generally. What I can see of the sprite art looks promising. Try and avoid using the built-in font though. There are plenty of great custom ones out there and you can always convert a Windows TTF one using the Fontmaker utility in the files section. I'm feeling extra-special helpful so I'm posting some of my own fonts, both ported and hand-made. Use 'em as you will: they're free for all to use (I'm using a few myself). Crediting me in your game would be nice but is entirely optional.

Hmm, I especially am partial to the kewl_font one, or the second one from the top...
And I always give credit if I can. I'll try it on.

Heh, the 'Kewl' font was a labour of love: it's from a game called 'Darkness' which was made using an ASCII text, DOS games creation system called MegaZeux. I used to be in it's community before I became a Verger. Darkness was a favourite of mine and I loved the font so I ported it over to something V3 could use, funking it up a little in the process.

It was a BASTARD to convert: I had to reposition every character by hand, set up a relevantly sized grid and drop-shadow everything for extra visibility. Thankfully, I'm quite happy with how it turned out :-).

I think back in the day, many of the people into verge were also into MegaZeux. ZZT is still around too, albeit in it's death throes. :D

I quit MegaZeux because I suddenly worked out how to code in VERGE and wanted to try something new and exciting, which VERGE in it's current state constantly is.

That, and the fact that at the time it looked like MegaZeux was never going to see a Windows port from a combination of squabbling amongst those who were up to the job in the community about how much they hated Windows and utter laziness. Eventually, it DID happen but my desire for a more flexible games creating system drew me to leave. And here I am.

Uh... I have not worked on Phobos Project for probably a couple months now. Every now and then, I remember this fact, and it makes me sad.

But, work and travel to and from work takes up my time from 6 am to 6 pm. Weekends are my time to visit family. I could theoretically fit in a couple hours a day after work, but other things always come up. I've been on a Civ 3 fix for a few weeks.

I think will eventually get around to it again.

It's a lot prettier this go around because of Jon Wofford.
