Here it is.

Something I thought I would share. Be sure to read the readme so you aren't surprised when bad things happen when you select Syntax Highlighting. Otherwise, it's not too bad. I hope to turn it into a very suitable substitute for those poor souls that don't have textpad... and to make it more specifically suited to verge.

It's useable as is, but there isn't much reason to use it over notepad at the moment except for its MDI interface, if you like that.

Looks spiffy. Line numbering would be exceptionally handy for debugging purposes, though.

Heh, it makes my desktop icons refresh each time I hit enter, and yeah the syntax highlighting is a bit wonky. Work work work! Good work :)

I forgot to add line numbering to the future features section of the readme... I'm definitely going to add that (as an option). :D

Most of the features to go are where I simply didn't know the name of the variable or function to implement them. That program is the result of me actually sitting down last night and opening Visual Studio 2003 for the first time. :D Most of the functions/variables (especially with .net) are really intuitive, but some of them aren't (for example... why is their no common find/replace dialog? Very odd omission).

I've tried several different forms of syntax highlighting, but almost all of them involve actually selecting text (it's hidden from you, because the window update is locked while it's doing it), then coloring it. Why can't I just do find/replaces and insert color codes? Because richtextbox is EEEEvil. One annoying side effect that you are bound to notice with that technique is that the window scrolls randomly every time you press enter. :( It drives me nuts. Anyway, it might come down to me just implementing my own text box control.

I learned more in that 5 hours of programming than I have in like the last 10 years. I love it when lightning strikes my brain.
